PSAT10

GC says the scores for the PSAT10 will be available on line on 4/22. Did anyone else hear this? After the delayed release of scores from the Oct PSAT I’m not sure I believe it will happen.

Wow! College Board actually posted the scores on the date they said they would!

Did anyone else take both the Oct PSAT and the Spring PSAT10? If so were the scores similar? DS reported that the tests were similar in difficulty but he scored slightly lower on the PSAT10 then on the Oct PSAT. His math errors on the PSAT10 were careless but the reading and writing errors were the same type on both tests so he really has to work on that! I suspect he took the Oct test more seriously than the PSAT10.

He also took the March SAT so it will be very interesting to see how his two PSAT scores compare to the new SAT but have to wait until mid May for that score

Eager to hear…

I don’t understand the point of the PSAT10. 10th graders are already the largest group taking the PSAT–greater than 11th graders. Why do they need another PSAT?

@mathyone more $$ for the CB I guess. They also have a PSAT8/9 now too! We were really on the fence about DS taking the PSAT10 since he had already taken the Oct PSAT and took the SAT a week after the PSAT10 was offered. It was offered during the school day at our school so classes would be messed up anyway and DS said he thought it would be a good idea for more practice since there are so few practice tests available for the new SAT.

Our GC recommends the 10 for sophomores as it better corresponds to the curriculum covered to date, whereas past includes part of junior year curriculum.

CB claims they are the same test

The only difference I noticed is that the score report for the PSAT10 did not include the Selection Index score you had to calculate that out on your own.

@3scoutsmom, do you receive the actual test or just the score report?

@VANURSEPRAC we got the online score report for the PSAT10 and it is linked to the actual test questions so I can see all the question and also his incorrect answers, so this was very helpful.

That is awesome!
