<p>After doing research, I found that Kaplan does, in fact, make their practice tests harder than the real things, so I'm not worrying as much anymore. Hopefully with practice my score will drastically increase.</p>
<p>The important part of the practice tests is to take them seriously and do them in conditions as similar to the test taking conditions as possible. You keep hearing, "all I made were stupid mistakes." I haven't heard of any smart mistakes. The people with the highest scores make no mistakes, stupid or not.</p>

<p>haha I just took a practice PSAT from CollegeBoard themselves and I SIGNIFICANTLY increased from the Kaplan score :D S'all good now.</p>
<p>8th grade SAT = 2120
9th grade SAT = 2200
10th grade PSAT = 232</p>
<p>I guess it matches up roughly with the degree of improvement over those three tests.</p>
<p>My testing timeline, in order of date taken:</p>
<p>10th Grade Practice SAT: 1950
10th Grade Official Practice PSAT: 201
10th Grade PSAT: 197
11th Grade Practice SAT: 2060
-natural fatty jump in scores-
11th Grade Official Practice PSAT: 220
11th Grade Official PSAT: 228
-Some studying and 1-2 full tests from BB-
11th Grade SAT: 2210
-Some individual section work and Official Practice SAT from Collegeboard's site-
12th Grade SAT: 2250-2350 (Estimation: I got a 2370 on the Official Practice SAT from Collegeboard 3 days before the October date, but it was the same as the 11th grade Practice SAT for some reason and I remembered a lot of the questions)</p>
<p>All practice tests were under real testing conditions.</p>
<p>So I said all that to say: Yeah, the PSAT is pretty much accurate.</p>
<p>Poseur, there is no way that is your real score if you missed that many questions. The PSAT curve was severe two years ago.</p>

<p>but honestly, in my opinion, PSAT doesnt mean much in terms of predicting SAT scores (despite the almost god-like accuracy of my 11th grade one)</p>
<p>Saw the recent entry re grading 2 yrs ago.</p>
<p>For Oct 2007 administration of PSAT, grading was:</p>
<p>1 incorrrect answer on writing means you get 75 (out of 80, mind you)
5 incorrect answers on math means 68 (makes sense)
3 incorrect answers on reading means 72 (makes sense)</p>
<p>Oh, if the post was referring to 2007, here's that curve: </p>

-1 Math was 75

<p>I think that the scores are within a certain range of each other but will not be exactly the same or within 10-20 points etc.</p>

first SAT:1780
630 cr 460 math 690 writing</p>
<p>I took a practice PSAT and scored a 215, and got a 2130 on the June SAT. I'd say it's a pretty good indicator.</p>
