So next year, as of right now I am a junior in high school, I would like to do Post Secondary at the University of Minnesota.

I currently live about 100 miles away, and would like to go to the U of M after my high school career- and attending the U of M as a PSEO student makes me 90% more likely to get into the college my freshmen year.

So I ask of you, kind and all-knowing College Confidential residents, what are my chances? If not for the PSEO program, for the college.

GPA: 3.5
ACT Score: 28
I've taken two AP classes- both writing intensive and very impressive looking on applications and have done multiple bouts of volunteer work.

My freshmen and Sophomore year, I'll be honest, I didn't apply myself nearly as hard as I could, but this year I kicked it into high-gear and had nearly a 3.9 for this quarter, and have been studying like a mad man trying to bring it up every ounce I can.

I am currently a h.s. Senior first year PSEO student at the U. Your grades are very good so the grade component of the application will be set for you. Just make sure to start the essays early (It’ll be up on the PSEO website in Jan or Feb) because that will give you a lot of time to finish it up before the May 1st deadline. They care a lot about the essay because a good essay, means that you will be able to write at a college level.

I hope the 90% thing is true because I am still waiting on my application :)

edit: oh, yeah, your extra curricular/volunteer do not factor in admissions. Just letting you know.

Awesome! Thank you very much! that’s awesome to hear! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders just from hearing someone who got in! What grades did you have when you sent in your application?
