PSU Class of 2018 Admission Decision Thread

@twinmom2014 it means a lot to me that you said that!! i’m just very confused and down on myself right now. looking at all these decisions, i’m just so confused. i can’t say it enough.

Don’t be down on yourself. I am finding there is no rhyme or reason on who gets in or who does not. D1 just got accepted today to Binghamton and yet they deferred all these kids in the same program with off the hook stats. (SAT wise) I know a girl who just graduated from Harvard this past January yet she was waitlisted at Northeastern and denied from Boston College. Its just odd to me.

@hopmayer…sorry to hear as well. Best of luck in making the next decision. I can’t figure out if this decision process could fill a book or not a single page. I am baffled and don’t have any skin in the game until next year.

@Hopmayer… so sorry. If you didn’t apply for the summer perhaps considering thinking about it. I don’t see any problem about going in undecided anyway. Best of luck in everything!

@hopmayer What is the downside of going undecided? Is it a restricted major that you are interested in and afraid you won’t be able to transfer into the major during your sophomore year?

I was rejected for Smeal college of business at University Park and am now changing to DUS to be reviewed again at University Park. Does anyone know how long this process of being reviewed again will take and will my status on My Penn State portal change back to being reviewed again? If anyone has information on this it would greatly be appreciated.

I got in today to the college of liberal arts. I had low stats, wasnt really expecting to get in.

Hello! I applied a week before nov 31 and my status changed to the coming days last night around8. Tonight, I was admitted to fall 2014! Stats: sat: 1770 gpa: 3.3 EC: TONS OF IT: varsity sports all highschool, volunteer at hospitals, peer tutoring. Amazing teacher recs. great unique essay.

I was told to send an email with my major change to DUS for review again which I did but if anyone knows what will happen next could you please share this with me.

@jul247 i was intending to major in broadcast journalism, and not that i’mm nervous persay, but ideally, i would have anticipated beginning those studies freshman year. woth the work experience and knowledge i have, it’s very hard for me to envision a year of college where i not studying in that field.

@Jets237. My daughter reapplied, status went back to final stages within 24 hours, had been accepted following night after 7 pm.

@PensFan Thanks that was exactly what I was looking for and Congrats to your daughter! Did she send an email with her major change because that’s what I was told to do when I called?

@hopmayer I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t get in I would apply undecided and see if you get in then you still have a choice of where to go

@Jets, I was rejected to Smeal on Monday, called them on tuesday and switched to Fall DUS at UP, and was accepted on Wednesday.

If you have good stats, it shows you were interested enough to call and they’ll for sure accept you. Smeal seemed very competitive this year. Good luck!

@Jets237. I actually called because I wanted to make sure I had all the facts on the architecture program and wasn’t just assuming I knew. I also had other questions. Otherwise I would have emailed.

@dsbdude17 Congratulations and thanks I just wanted to see how this process will be now with these changes. Did they tell you to send an email with your major change to DUS? They told me to do this and I just wanted to make sure I followed the right steps.

@Pensfan So they had you change your daughters major over the phone?

TIA,

Fred

@Jets237 I asked them to change it over the phone I had a couple of questions prior to that in which I asked him to look at her credentials since he had her application pulled up he changed it for me
