I sent my SAT scores on August 21, and they didnt update until after September 10… I emailed admissions at the time because i was so worried and if you want i can copy and paste what they told me
Grrrr annoying… admissions website seems to be down.
How long does it usually take for them to update your application? I’ve been waiting a week now for them to change my info.
Guys…
I read (NYT? WaPo?) College Board had some glitches with reporting SATs. They would have arrived at whatever school you indicated, but it might take a smidge longer. Also, keep in mind that on Nov 30, PSU would have received a deluge of last-minute applications, so reporting back to you might take a whole (gasp!) week!
This is a university office that receives tens of thousands of applications. Of course they aren’t answering the phone all the time! Welcome to Big University 101 — you have to wait. You have to fact-find on your own, not just keep interrupting workflows. If you can’t accept that, you will always feel stressed.
Accepted on November 15th
DUS
28 ACT
4.17 W GPA
Accepted to Eberly College of Science at University Park with major as Pre-med, I applied on November 16th and it said they received all of my materials on November 24th and I got a decision yesterday!

@Kasami I emailed twice and got no response so I called multiple times from 3-4:30 and I finally got through towards the end. I had a similar problem with my transcript a few weeks ago, I knew for a fact that it was sent but my checklist said it was not received so I emailed them and they said they had it and that they updated my checklist. So if college board says it was sent, I’m sure you’re fine! @BandMom339 my message still says that now even though I spoke to someone on the phone who told me everything was fine with my application, so I am relieved but still a little confused…
also they keep telling me they’ll let me know if they need anything else from me (documents, etc)… what else could they possibly need other than my transcript, application fee and sat scores?
My daughter was just accepted in to college of nursing at University park Good luck everyone!
Now my daughter is a bit worried…she really just wants University Park but put down Altoona as an alternative choice even though she really doesn’t want to go there. Do you think once they see an alternative and she is borderline they will just place her there and not consider UP??? Here app now says “under review” for two days but the main picture still shows University Park
To bklyn14… We had the same thoughts when my daughter applied. But I have heard from numerous sources both on campus and off that they evaluate you based on your first choice and if you don’t meet those qualifications then they go to the second choice if you have chosen one. I know the waiting and wondering is hard. My daughter applied sept.1 with UP as first choice then summer then Harrisburg. We both feel she has the qualifications for UP but you never know. So we wait… I hope this helps.
Can I get Opinions?? Son’s GPA 3.45 SAT 1770 (640 math 570 reading) 7 honors and 2 present AP courses. Computer Engineering Major. Applied end of September. First Choice UP. Checked Summer box and Altoona as second choice. Would he have a better shot at UP Summer if we changed major to DUS?
@mmsharp They do say that they evaluate you for university park first so having a second choice in theory should not effect your chances of getting into UP. My kids never put a second choice as they were not willing to go to a different campus. Checking the box for summer is very helpful. The only other thing I am wondering could be helpful is applying as undecided since he could take the prereqs and wind up computer engineering anyway and it may be easier to get in as undecided. Maybe look into how competitive computer engineering is at Penn State? You can call and switch to undecided if you think that would help. Also, in the past, people have called when denied and asked to be reconsidered for undecided so that might be an option. Just my thoughts but I am not an admissions person. Good luck!
Accepted to DUS today, 28 ACT, 3.89w GPA
@mmsharp In a similar situation (just a higher GPA but not by much) Test scores didn’t get there until end of Oct. Took forever. Applied for UP for Computer Science. Checked Summer box. Does not want another campus as he wants to be part of the Blue Band. Let me know when you hear back. Hoping it won’t go into January, but it’s very likely it will be that long. Just have to sit back and enjoy the ride now!
Transcripts and SAT’s verified on September 15th and application on sept. 17th and STILL no response. Applied to College of Education for Elementary Education. Stats are: unweighted GPA 3.94 weighted: 4.5 - SAT: 1840 - mix of AP & Honors. Is this a bad sign to wait this long to hear??? I’m going crazy!!
@s19085 They really do not answer in the order of how you applied so try not to worry! You’re stats are great and I can’t see why you wouldn’t get in. It doesn’t seem that a ton of acceptances have gone out yet. I have twins and one has heard (undecided) and one has not (education). My older two go to penn state and one got accepted in November and the other at the end of January. Hang in there!
s19085 - Same boat here. My son’s (3.97 unweighted, 33 ACT, mix of honors and dual enrollment courses) application (COE) and all supplements have been in since the beginning of September, and he hasn’t heard anything yet either. So, we continue to wait.
This is very stressful I am an alumni, daughter applied 09-01, all documents in by 09-20,
3,89 gpa, 27 ACT, summer, my older son heard by October 31st. This is nuts.
Other kids in our school are getting in with much lower stats. She applied to communications. Should we change to DUS
Accepted today DUS 1920 sat 3.8 gpa uw, applied early sept as business changed to DUS prior to thanksgiving break
