@twizzler768 @my2kidsnj Penn State is a MODIFIED rolling admission. It’s states that on their website. It just means that if you apply by Nov 30th, you will hear back by Jan 31. It really is random. My son applied Sept 10th last year and did not hear back until Jan 26th. He got into Smeal. There is still time. Good luck!!

If you put Fall first and Yes to Summer and were accepted to Summer your only option is going the DUS route and asking to be reevaluated for Fall. Unlikely but worth it if you truly want Fall. Second, some kids put Summer First in application. If accepted in Summer you can ask to be evaluated for the Fall, no harm in doing that if that’s what you indeed want for any number of reasons(time, Summer plans, $$$).
Finally, if you haven’t heard yet it means NOTHING. It doesn’t mean you’re out, it simply means they haven’t reviewed your app yet as they do this randomly. I do believe they initially triage Apps and get offers out to very high stats kids in the hope they get acceptances. Other than that keep the faith and everyone will hear within 10 days!!
I was so scared I wouldnt get accepted. This morning I checked and got into the college of health and human development!!! 26 ACT and 94 GPA. Do not lose hope!!! the next few days will be worth the wait!!

@Oneiota I have a classmate who was admitted to Smeal but starts in the summer. Summer is not just for undecided major. Wasn’t sure if that was what you were saying.
@kearbear I got into Civil Engineering with 3.72w and 1300 new sat with 690 for math.
@Swimming123, yea just saying if you were denied for Fall then DUS/Summer is slightly better chance. I know kids who choose summer regardless of major to better acclimate to PSU. At the end of the day it’s a great way to start at PSU if you don’t mind the extra $$$ cost
Son accepted last night after midnight. Smeal, Fall, 98.5w GPA and 1320 SAT. He’s been checking everyday. Applied early. Pitt gave acceptance so much quicker.

does pennstate send decisions on weekends, or should i just not expect one tomorrow?
What is the lowest gpa and the lowest sat score that university park will accept? And does that follow with AP and Honor Classes, Extracaricular Activities for maximizing the chances?
Typically, 3.5 is the lowest for University Park (although some 3.4 with great rigor applying DUS have a shot).
AP/honors: total should be as close to 20 as possible, including math through precalculus or calculus, foreign language up to level 4 (or AP), and all three from bio, chem, physics at any level (regular included).
Those will be the primary factors, probably 2/3 of the decision.
But what about a lower SAT score and a high GPA?
I honestly can’t believe it. Just checked my online portal and I got denied from smeal. I even had letters of rec and put summer start down as an option. I have a 3.92 gpa and a 1230 on sat. I know smeal is very hard to get in to, I just don’t understand because I’ve seen people on this thread with much lower gpas and sat scores than me get accepted. I just don’t understand. I’m so heart broken as penn state is my number one school! 
will call admissions on Monday to be reevaluated as DUS I guess. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
@stephaniexx I’m truly sorry for your denial. Good luck when you call admissions on Monday. I’m certain they will be able to offer you other options.
@stephaniexx Sorry to hear you got denied from Smeal. It is really hard to be accepted directly to Smeal. Sometimes it not just the numbers but vigor of course work and also that certain requirements were met. You can always be re- evaluated for DUS. @stephaniexx So sorry, call Monday for sure it cant hurt…I’m still waiting on Smeal and trying to remain calm. Did they just update portal today or did you get notified by mail?
