Accepted to College of the Liberal Arts at University Park! 3.8 GPA, 1410 SAT, good EC’s. Applied November 9, under review January 10.
has anyone tried to call admissions and gotten a faster response?
Did anyone submit their essays with more than 500 words? I tried to trim my down but could only trim it to a minimum of 580 words. Will this hurt my chances of being accepted?

@meimei29 I can’t imagine that being an issue or problem with acceptance. If they were steadfast on count for essay, it would have blocked you from writing more. A lot are still waiting.
@psu94 Online it states those most people will hear by 1/31 assuming they got everything by 11/30. Admissions would probably say the same.
Status changed to “under review” I believe on Monday. Can’t wait now!!! 1260SAT/92GPA Aeronautical engineering, UP, OOS
Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to respond to an email? I emailed them regarding a mistake in my application about two days ago and haven’t heard anything
poipkeek, It took them about a day for them to respond to me but you should get a response soon hopefully!
Also, right now my application status reads, “Your application is currently under review. We have received everything required to complete your application. Once a decision is made, it will be posted here.” does this mean i might get a response soon?
Everyone who applied by the priority deadline should hear back in the next two weeks.
@11stars You can read back in this thread but, to repeat our situation and many others, S applied Smeal OOS and his read that same thing for the past 4-5 weeks. Some heard quickly once they saw it change. I haven’t heard of any business students though. If you applied by 11/30 you should hear by 1/31 or sooner
Thank you for applying to Penn State. We have carefully evaluated your academic credentials, and although we cannot offer you admission to the Eberly College of Science with the intended major of Biology at Penn State University Park, there are other educational opportunities that await you at Penn State.
I’m so confused what does this mean??
What does the rest of the letter say?
Due to limitations on the size of the first-year class at University Park and the exceptionally high caliber of recent applicants, it is inevitable that many good students who demonstrate academic success are referred to start their education at another Penn State campus as part of the 2+2 plan. In fact, this is the most common path to a Penn State degree; more than half of our students spend their first two years at a Commonwealth campus. At the end of their second year, students can choose to transition to University Park to complete their studies without reapplying for admission.
Please visit admissions.psu.edu/campuses to learn more about the unique aspects of each Penn State campus. I hope you will carefully consider which of these campuses may be right for you and contact the admissions staff at that campus or email us at admissions@psu.edu to learn more about your options. I encourage you to call the campus directly if you have any questions. It is important to note that some campuses have limited on-campus housing, so please contact the campuses that interest you as soon as possible.
We will not take any further action on your application until we hear from you.
A great Penn State education is still available to you. Although it may not start out as you had originally planned, I hope you will consider the opportunity to earn a Penn State degree and enjoy the lifetime of benefits it brings. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
So they’re saying you can choose a branch campus and do a 2+2 plan.
