PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

@bodangles Thanks for clarifying, as you can imagine as a parent I am lost with so many schools and procedures.

Hi all, my D applied around end of October and her status is still under review. She applied to the Eberly School. Most people we know already got their decision at this point, it seems, so feeling a bit doubtful. She was accepted into Pitt’s Honors College and we thought that would translate to getting into UP but not sure. She is technically a dual enrolled homeschooler through a tutor center and taking classes at Community College, so her admissions status is maybe more complicated.

Stats:
SAT: 1470
GPA: (Un Weighted) 3.8
ACT: 32

Location/Person:
State or Country: PA
School Type: Homeschool tutoring center
Ethnicity: white
Gender: female

Other Factors:
Applied-Forensic Science-Eberly School
No summer session

Daughter did not get into her 1st choice program but then we just asked admissions to switch it to DUS with summer. They were extremely helpful and nice. Hats off to Admissions - whether she ultimately gets in or not, kindness matters! Fingers crossed!

Kastiaroad… our daughter also applied to the Eberly School of Science (biology) around the same time and is also still under review. Her GPA is 3.82 but her SAT scores are lower than your daughter’s scores. With only one day remaining, I really don’t know what to think.

My daughter declined Smeal 2/2.
30ACT
WGPA3.95
GPA 3.55
Leadership/ Activities/ Honors/ AP

Admissions was helpful. She was switched to DUS. Her application is under review again.

I wonder how long it will take to review this time.

Hi, can anyone shed some light on the application workflow? Does Admissions make all DUS decisions? Or, for example, would an aerospace engineering app be pre-screened by Admissions then handed off to College of Engineering, or possibly handed off to Aerospace department for decision (or flow through both)? I’m trying to get a handle on the process and hand-offs (if any). Thanks.

Does “we’ll have all our decisions by Jan 31st” mean that tonight is the last night they update the portal (for applicants before 11/30)? Or will they release tomorrow night as well?

Agreed CollegeParents9! Kindness matters! Admissions was kind and helpful to us at a stressful time. Good luck to your daughter! What was her first choice major?

@ccs0623 and @panurse - There are Accepted Students Day for nursing students up through early March at least! Please dont lose faith. Ill be watching this thread for more good news. What is meant to be will be - your child will find his or her place - I’m pulling for all of you!

@croutontwan Decisions by January 31 means by the end of the day January 31st and in previous years that has spilled over to Feb 1 as well.

They DO NOT hold denials to the end. Lots of people have been denied, gotten summer, gotten 2+2 etc…already. Not hearing means nothing as far as getting in or not.

The rest of you should hear within the next 24-48 hours. If not, call. Because you may THINK your application was in by the 30th but if you didn’t have EVERYTHING in by the 30th, you could be in the next wave.

You work for admissions?

When is the next wave after January 31? My D changed her major to DUS. A admissions person told her she’d know in 2 to 3 weeks which was about a week ago. That seems really fast considering the length of time we waited for the first decision which was a Smeal 2/2 offer.

An. I can’t stand grammar errors!

Dance. New program.

s

Daughter just accepted to nursing University Park for fall! The anxiety was really starting to get to me. Good luck to all the others who are posting here!

@thinklogin Curious if your daughters portal changed to under review, or is the 2+2 acceptance letter still there? My son has same stats and in same situation. Keep us posted with final results! Good luck!

Can anyone list the dates of the upcoming waves

@wbg777 The portal does change back to under review.

SOn accepted OOS UP Fall Smeal Business. 4.37 WGPA, 31 ACt, 1350 SAT. Yay!
