PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

Looking forward to calling in the morning and demanding our $65 back. Application submitted in mid September and my daughter is hightly qualified. The failure to meet the published decision deadline is unacceptable.

If nothing by the end of the day Thursday, call on Friday and ask for information. You could call Thursday of course but might want to give them a little extra time to see what happens?

And remember that the poor suffering intern on the phone had nothing to do with it.

Woke up sick at 12:45 in the morning, thought I’d check and see if my decision was here, sure enough, it was! Accepted fall 2018 at university park for IST!

My D got accepted! University Park, 1200 SAT, 3.6 GPA, brother there, OOS, DUS - summer program - my daughter is thrilled beyond belief! We are…

Accepted to DUS UP for Summer. Applied Sept. Unweighted GPA 3.9. SAT 1190. 2 Varsity sports & captain. VP several clubs. NHS. Part time jobs. Started a business. Visited campus 2x and did spend summer day program (not sure how much visits matter in their decision but wanted to mention) OOS. Not going: 1. cost OOS especially with adding summer. Will not qualify for any fin aid and no merit aid offered. 2. Only interested in business, but knew wouldn’t get in for major, so applied DUS. Have heard horror stories of not being able to transfer to Smeal as a current student even. Scared to get there and have to worry about getting a spot still. It was my #1, but is just isn’t making sense given other options.

Does anyone know when financial aid starts rolling out?

I applied on September 7th. I was told by an admissions counselor on December 1st that everything was in and that I’m a priority applicant. I still don’t have a decision.

Still no update even after I called and spoke to someone yesterday about it. Taking this as a very bad sign since all nursing majors had to apply before 11/30 and my daughters app has been under review for months. When the person on the phone goes OH MY I have to push this to the counseling office does not look good. Very frustrated at this whole process. I would recommend that you call because noone apparently looked at my daughters app and she was a nursing applicant.

Also under review… I sent my application in November 26th, everything else was sent in before. There was a mix up with my SAT scores due to the spelling of my name, but that was resvolved with a phone call. I’m going to have my guidance counselor give them a call today…

From the Office of Financial Aid website:

Early March
Aid notification for students who submit the FAFSA by February 15.

My D checked her application and it’s still under review. Her application was completed by mid November, so we’re not real hopeful at this point. I thought she would have a very decent shot getting into UP with a GPA of 3.8 UW and an ACT/SAT of 32/1470. Those scores seemed to be on the higher end according to their website and even what I’ve seen posted here. Oh well, Pitt’s Honors College is looking more and more attractive at this point.

@Andreq I am so glad they helped you, good luck to your son.

@kastiaroad your D should get in… I’d call and ask what’s up with that.

@rah5720 , yes I probably will this morning, thanks.

@kastiaroad your D’s scores are identical to my D. She was accepted on 1/29. Definitely call.

What have admissions officers said to those of you who haven’t gotten your admissions decisions, despite applying before the Nov 30th deadline? Asking for a friend who applied almost a month before me, and I’ve hear back already.

I just got my acceptance for the college of engineering with a major of aerospace engineering. However I was offered Summer 2018 at University Park, not Fall. My weighted GPA is 3.91 and 1320 SAT. I applied September 25th and had all supporting materials in by October 1st.

@snoailles I was told to call back Monday if my D did not have an answer by then. I find that absolutely ridiculous. Have to say this whole process has turned me off of PSU.

Daughter’s portal was changed this morning - denied UP (she applied for summer session DUS), offered admission to Altoona 2+2.

Ok, I just talked with an admissions counselor. He said that my daughter’s app was completed priority but that they have had trouble meeting the deadline of January 31st. He said that they have extended the deadline of no later than this coming Wednesday, February 7th. Hopefully that helps the few of us that are still waiting.
