by shortening the test, i would think those who study for old one will be just as prepared or even more prepared for the new mcat in 2007, so iuno, i don't think it would matter for 6 year-ers

How prestigious is jefferson medical college? What are its strong points and weak points? Specifically, how strong is the surgery program?

DirtySouth--Jefferson is especially reputable for its surgery--orthopedic surgery department. It is also strong in infectious diseases, internal medicine (ranks higher than HARVARD in its residency program!), urology, and Jefferson ranks 36 among 124 medical schools in the amount of funding it received from the National Institutes of Health.

do 6/7 yr med students typically stay in the same dorm? or which one is better if i am in this program?
thanks

can anyone help me with stats for those accepted??
i know they require a 1440 and top 10 percent to apply but what if my school doesnt rank?
and also can anyoen accepted please post stats and ecs and such and what decision theyre making

harveyliscious----6/7 year students can stay in the same dorm rooms --if what you're talking about are roomates. My future roomate is a 6 year while I'm gonna be a 7 year.

ivybound1010----I don't think it will hurt you if your school doesn't rank...the admissions office will use some other way to determine what kind of student you are. I'm not gonna list everything I did in high school and all my grades, but I was in the top 1% of my class (700students) and did scores all 4/5 in AP exams. As for ecs I didn't do everything that was offered at my school, but concentrated my efforts on 4-5 activities in/out of school. Also, most of my activities were centered around the idea of helping others....this shows your passion and committment to potentially becoming a doctor. Good luck!

thanks a lot - i go to stuyvesant so its really hard to be the top 10 percent even but i hope about a 94 average is sufficient enough - i was thinking about writing to them to let them know of my interest and get information? would you advise that?

i say go for it...it can't hurt you!

I think a 94 average at a high school like Stuyvesant would give you a very good chance at getting in. I believe there is one Stuy student and one Hunter student in the program. Lastly, you can apply to the program solely through the Internet now so there is no need to contact PSU unless you want the materials in paper form.
