PSU or Virginia Tech.

I have been accepted into PSU and VT for engineering program (Fall 2015). I am planning to major in Mechanical Engineering. I’m confused as to which university should I go to. I have also applied to Purdue and I am still waiting for their decision. As I am an International Student the OOS won’t bother me. I have heard that PSU is more of a party campus but it has a huge alumni base. But Virginia Tech on the other hand is ranked comparatively high in the engineering program. But I don’t want to attend the hardcore engineering colleges. Instead I want to enjoy my college life doing various activities and also study. Any advice will be helpful

P.S. : If anyone knows about about the internship and future job opportunities at PSU, VT and Purdue (as in which college offers the best opportunities) feel free to comment.

All three have great job opportunities, except that it’s become exceedingly hard for international students to get a job after their OPT, so you’re likely looking at BS + OPT (2 years) + Master’s + OPT -> job, possibly (and obviously you’re going to STUDY, not to get a job perhaps - going to the US to get a job means you’ll be denied your STUDENT visa.)

For engineering, I’d say VT has an edge, plus, better weather.
I think Penn State’s alumni network is stronger indeed.

Thanks a lot @MYOS1634‌ …it was really helpful.

@adityaakole Im from India and I got into purdue, penn state and VT but for business. I’m definitely choosing Penn state and as of what I’ve hear Purdue has the best engineering school among these three and its engineering program is valued all over the world but if you want to have a good time choose Penn State and where are you from?

@ind1900‌ im from Mumbai and you?

@adityaakole chennai. How’s your boards going on?

@ind1900‌ already did my boards last year
…how’s it going for you?

oh so you took a gap year. Its going pretty good and dude the only thing that is concerning me is not getting a job after spending like 1cr there.

Yeah I took a gap year thats right. Im not worrying about the job yet. Getting into a good college and getting good grades is important. Getting a GPA of 3.5+ will get you good job offers i guess

My niece attends Purdue and my son PSU. He was accepted to VT, but chose Penn State. He is currently a freshmen Eng. major.

I realize you are international, so costs are different for you.
I wish the cost of PSU was what my brother pays for his daughter to attend Purdue. What a great affordable option for their instate residents. My brother is shocked and can not believe what we pay. Purdue is a great university. I think any of these choices would be a good choice. For us, our choice came down to price, location and networking.

A good time can be had at any of these colleges if chose to or not.

Thanx @PERplexD‌ !
