So I was just accepted to Johns Hopkins cognitive science program off the extended summer waitlist. I previously committed to penn state main campus but now I can't decide where I want to go to college. Johns Hopkins is great for premed but I heard how cut throat the premed students are and I also want to have a social life in college. Penn state isn't as amazing for premed but it's good and going to penn state will be completely free because of scholarships whereas hopkins will obviously be much more expensive. I also hear that where you go to undergraduate doesn't really matter for med school as long as I maintain a high GPA, get a good mcat score, and do research/service, which I might not have time for at hopkins because of how competitive it is. I have until Monday to decide and I would love advice on what to do. Thanks so much!
Also I didn't apply to schreyer but if I choose penn state I plan to apply for gateway admission.

bump! Someone please help!

Post the Cost of Attendance for John Hopkins.

about $38,000 a year because of outside scholarships

Go to Penn State.

$150k in debt in the long run will really restrict you.

It will be easier to maintain a high GPA at Penn. Although JHU is a much better school for premed where you will get a better education, if I were you, I’d stick with PSU.

Achieve a high GPA and MCAT and your med school opportunities from PSU will still be very good.

Unless you’re confident that you can be top of your class at JHU, I would seriously be leaning towards Penn State.

Just my 0.02.

That’s what I was thinking too. I know I won’t be top of my class at JHU because of the extremely intelligent and competitive students there but I’m confident I will do well at penn state. Thanks for the advice. I’m leaning more toward penn state now and I will probably still get a great education there
