<p>Can anyone tell me about the psych program at Berkeley? Is it more social based or science based? Is it one of the popular (and therefore, really "big") majors? Overall, is it a strong program?</p>

<p>The psychology program at Berkeley is definitely more science-based than social-based. The list of prerequisites is long and it includes a lot of biology (evolution and biological science) as well as social science. It is also one of the more popular majors on campus, so admission to the major is capped. In order to get into the major, one has to go through an application process. Not everyone gets into psychology; however, if you do fine in your prerequisite courses, you'll get in. Overall, it's a really good program, though-- probably in at least the top twenty nationwide.</p>
