Hi, guys.
There has been no specific answer for this question, so I am asking again to see if there is someone who knows about it well.
The pre-requisites courses for psych major (in Berkeley) were changed/added before last fall 2015.
I am transferring in the following fall 2016, and I have followed the previous pre-requisites courses from assist.org for more than 1 year.
It is quite difficult for me to follow the new version since I have an already-planned SEP (student education plan) since 2014. If I follow the new one, I would not be able to transfer in fall 2016, rather I need to stay at my community college one more year due to extra math work that UCB suddenly asked.
All of the counsellors, advisors, and classmates at my college are not sure about which version (pre-requisite) I should follow. Even, according to other posts here, the answers from Berkeley varied depends on the time they answered or people who answered.
Since I need to finish the transfer academic update (TAU), I visited Berkeley website and found that I needed to update the courses based on pre-requisite from assist.org.
I do not want to take any math courses because, first, they announced it very late, second, I do not want to waste 1 more year with uncertain possibility to get accepted at UCB.
Do I have any chance to get in Berkeley even if I do not follow the newest version (or is it okay to follow the previous version)? Is there anyone who knows about this issue very well?
You should ask Berkeley admissions and Berkeley’s psychology department (see above) if you would be admissible missing the additional math courses, but completing them in the summer or fall after transfer.
I’m pretty sure they allow students to complete the Calc requirement in the summer - that would mean taking precalc this semester and calc 1 the next. It should say on assist, but I’ve heard that from multiple people on here.
Edit: Oh, I see that it’s two Calc courses… I agree with the aforementioned advice.
@goldencub@ucbalumnus Thank you for the answers. Yes, I need to ask Berkeley admission one more time. Anyway, I do not think I can finish additional math courses in the following two-quarters (summer+ fall) since there are 3 precalculus + 1 calculus. TT
