I’m at a CC and graduating with an AAT in psychology in spring 16, and am applying this fall to various schools. Because of poor grades and Ws when I was much younger and in the throws of addiction, I had some bad grades I had to overcome when I decided I was going back to school no matter, to get an education and work in the service of others. I’ll save you all those details and just say that I’m a straight A student now and am sober and have a year of school under my belt. I’m looking to get a bachelors that will best prepare me for work but also set me up to be able to get into a decent graduate program at a UC or CSU. I am concerned about my community college grades coming back to haunt me when I apply to graduate school, including a lot of Ws, however the last time I was in school getting those grades was 2009, and there is a gap till last year when I come back with a 4.0. Among other schools I’m looking at UCI and the PSB program, UCR, CSUF, CSULB, and CSUDH for psychology for transfer. Even though I’ve gotten all As and am a totally different student now, my GPA for UC wont be higher than a 3.2 and my CSU GPA will be about a 3.4 at best. I’m an OC area student once I graduate with the AAT. Please tell me what you think would be the best choice between UC or CSU or the particular programs at any of these. Thank you !!!
