Who here is majoring in psychology? How hard is it?

I am, but I am only a freshman I made an A in Psych 1101 though during the summer. It was pretty easy as long as you study kind of like any major or class.

How hard is it?

This is really only a question you can answer.

Everybody's going to have a different experience depending on their own abilities, their background, their preparation, their school, their personal study habits, their other activities, their specific classes, and their specific teachers.

That said, psychology is not generally considered one of the harder majors.

I am contemplating majoring in Biology or Psychology. I'm currently taking a psychology class in high school and it has a ton of Biology in it.

Will it be a useful major? OR will I have a hard time finding a job?

It's a semi-useful major, like an above poster said it's also not very difficult. That being said, everyone and their dog majors in psychology (or business) and consequently you have to REALLY stand out to get a good job placement or else...well, a lot of people have psychology degrees...

Perhaps since you're looking into both psychology/biology you'll be interested in going to med school after undergrad and becoming a psychiatrist?

If you're interested in biology and psychology, you might also like to explore Neuroscience and/or Cognitive Science.

I second the neuroscience suggestion. It might also be called biopsychology, psychobiology, behavioral science, or cognitive science at different schools. a really cool field!

(But just to add on to huskem55's point, some of the above alternate titles might also be very different majors within a single university...they're not always interchangeable. Definitely all things that sound like they might click with you, though!)

Yes, check into the majors above, and other related majors. Really explore these, because they seem to match your interests and generally have better job prospects after you graduate.

intro psych is a joke...the tests are basically from the readings. anybody can read.

Lately I've been hearing a lot of, "Oh she got a BA in Psychology and now she can't find a job."

It really sucks because for the last three years, I was pumped that I had decided I'd be doing Psych when I get to university. (Well that or sociology/go to teachers college) But it's like, everywhere I turn I hear you need to go to graduate school to be better off and this and that. Is that true or what?

It's true...Sorry.

"Oh she got a BA in Psychology and now she can't find a job."

Guess what. Switch any of the following majors into that sentence and it will be the same: sociology, philosophy, history, american/any cultural studies, anthropology, etc etc

Very few majors will guarantee you a directly-related job straight out of college.

^Agreed
