Psychology

I really want to take this class but I'm not a junior =/ One is required to be a junior or a senior to take this course at my school.

Do you have to be a junior at your school to take this class. Psychology is a major interest to me and I can't pursue my interest, because of my age.

My school doesn’t even have psychology, just AP psych, and you have to be a senior to take it.
If psychology interests you that much, then you can always take it at a summer program.

I do good in classes that interest me so I was hoping to receive a boost in my GPA…but I guess not…

I might be able to get into the class if there aren’t many juniors & seniors to take the class.

Oh yea, try talking to your guidance counselor. I’m sure if you’re really willing, then he/she can figure something out, unless your school is REALLY strict.

That’s a good idea. I hope I can get in…I really want to…but I’m not sure If there is any room.

It’s only for Juniors/Seniors here, too.

But I’m taking Psych I and AP Psych my Junior year anyway - need them to fill up my elective credits :P

This is probably what I will do. I want to take a summer based course on it, but marching band doesn’t give me any time. I can take it during the summer If I’m willing to give up my trip to the beach…

I’m a sophomore currently taking AP Psych and, at least in my school, it’s not really a hard class. It’s a lot of reading, but seeing as the subject interests you so much then that shouldn’t be a problem. Have you talked to the teacher about it? It’d be a shame for that class to have few students because of such a policy…

Ha, sounds like we’re in the same boat :stuck_out_tongue: Band has been sucking up all of my class periods… as much as I love it (marching season in 3 months!)

Yours only lasts 3 months!? Woww…Our band was 2nd in the nation this past year and our season lasts 5&1/2 months.

^^I’m pretty sure It’s a required class at my school…so the class will probably be full. However, I’m not very sure. I think I will meet with the guidance counselor and find out.

No, it starts in 3 months :stuck_out_tongue: (Our first official practice is in May, we go through November.) That’s awesome though! We got 2nd in State this year and the band who got 1st in State got like, 18th or something at Grand Nationals. But they have $$$ and we don’t, so… :P

Ohhh haha  I get it! Mine starts in three months as well. Our first official practice is in May too! However…I wouldn’t really consider that part of the season, because we don’t have many practices during that month. It really takes off in July with conditioning =] I can’t wait!

Lol…Trumpet, be warned: I tried doing this with my GC about a course required for graduation. She wouldn’t give it to me unless the VP agreed…I asked the VP. The VP refused. Then I sent in the heavy artillery :stuck_out_tongue: (parents! Completely legal!) and the VP told them that it’s “illegal” for us to take that course before senior year. >.<

Then again, your GC/VP are probably more, shall we say, tractable than mine. :D

Oh woww…an adventure starts when you talk to your guidance counselor :b

You’ve never tried getting paperwork out of them  This is where I learned how to outwit “faceless bureaucrats.”

just wait, believe it or not junior year will come someday.

My school only offers Honors Psychology/Sociology, no AP Psych. :</p>

^My school only offers a semester course of Psych period.

And is it just me or does anyone else have this urge to write “Psycho”?

Psychology I and Psychology II are one-semester-long courses at my school and are offered to any grade-level. You can take AP Psychology at any point, and there are no prerequisites. Most students take it in their Junior year.

Mostly seniors take AP Psych in my school, but I am one of the few juniors taking it this year.

Definitely ask the teacher to talk to your guidance counselor if he/she is giving you a hard time about it.
