Are they still sending out letters of acceptance/rejection from Purchase?
My D has not heard yet.

See the last post in this thread for some information:

I know there have been some acceptances and some rejections and
then those, like us who remain in limbo. My son has not heard anything
either.

I’ve already gotten rejected via mail but know that people have gotten accepted.

What I’ve read in other forums is that the fact that you haven’t heard means you are being considered for the waitlist, which is awesome.

they don’t accept anyone via mail, only with a phone call

hope that helps

anyone heard anything yet?

My D got a rejection by mail last week.

On the MyPurchase web sit eit lists my daughter as being on the Purchase waitlist.
“At this time, you have been designated as a “wait list” candidate”

Anyone got any idea how big the waitlist is?

i’m not sure, but i think that’s good! i doubt it’s very long. perhaps call the school. i visited the site today and it still just said my audition time. i still haven’t gotten a rejection letter and still no call! aaah it’s frustrating! anyone else in this predicament?

My son and 1 other person that he knows of.

I know someone who got in last year from the waiting list.

Last year, my son was called for an opening off the Alternate list(waitlist). That was around the first week of May. He was one of the first males called off the list.

Wow, where was he planning on going up until then?

My friend call Purchase today and they told her she had been waitlisted. They said it consisted of 12 girls (I don’t know how many boys). Two other friends called and they didn’t have decisions for them. By the time the fourth friend called the lady at admissions got really irritated and wouldn’t tell them anything.

According to my myPurchase account…
…not accepted…
…not rejected…
…waitlisted…

My D got wait listed today, they sent her an email.

Does anyone know the process if you’re accepted for admission off the waitlist AFTER May 1? The Acceptance forms you sign for other colleges all state that you won’t consider any other offers of admission once you’ve accepted their offer… Would Purchase be bound to NOT offer you a spot if you’ve commited to your backup? Have any waitlisted members received any detailed correspondence from the school? We just have the message on the MyPurchase account.

If you are wait listed at ANY school, you likely will not hear if you are offered a spot off the wait list until AFTER May 1. Therefore, you MUST enroll and put a deposit down at one of your accepted schools by May !. If AFTER May 1, you are offered a spot off the wait list at a preferred school, you would then withdraw from the school you put the deposit down at and lose that deposit. That will then open a spot at that school tos someone else which means that the wait list movement at schools has a ripple effect and can go on for some time.

The procedure I am describing is the norm. Indeed, if you enroll at a school by May 1 which you MUST do, and get off a wait list AFTER May 1 (which is when most wait lists become active if they do at all…once colleges have their replies returned from accepted students), you CAN enroll at the wait list school and you merely lose your deposit at the original school that you had to put down by May 1.

You also asked if Purchase would not offer you a slot off their wait list if you have already committed to your back up school. YOU HAVE TO COMMIT TO YOUR BACK UP SCHOOL BY MAY 1!! If you don’t, your child may be left with NO college. All schools expect that when they make an acceptance offer off of the wait list, and this is usually done after May1, that the student has already put a deposit down at another school becasue the student had to commit to a sure bet by May 1 and not rely on getting off a wait list. Again, this is the norm and to be expected by all colleges.

No wait listed school will expect or want you not to put a deposit down at another school by May 1.

My daughter got a phone call from SUNY about a month ago saying something along the lines of: Dean Irvy and Ronnie Stewart would like you to know that they were very impressed with your audition. We can’t make you a formal offer yet, but we hope we will be talking to you soon.

Since then two students at her school have been accepted, one having received the same phone call, one having received no phone call.
My daughter has not received anything from the school, but is listed as a wait list candidate on the web site…

Anyone have a similar experience?

My son has had more or less the exact same experience… similar phone call, no correspondence, listed as ‘wait list’ on the web site. I’ve been assuming we’ll get more clarity by 4/1.

As Soozievt advised last year, we notified and sent a deposit to another school prior to 5/1. My son was waitlisted at Purchase and was called the first week of May and he enrolled in the program.

If your SUNY status says waitlisted, you would most likely receive a letter shortly with details on how to notify Admissions of your intent to enroll if a spot opens up. You would not receive a call from Dean or Ronni unless they are calling to offer a place in the company.

I"m not sure exactly how many were called with offers but out of 16 in the first year class, I think there were at least two female and two male students that enrolled off the waitist. By 5/1, students with offers (not waitlist) have to notify the school of their intentions to attend or not attend. Last year there were several accepted students deciding on Purchase, CalArts, Depaul and NCSA, etc. Most decided to enroll at Purchase but not until late April. Unfortunately, the waitlist is just that, a wait and see, with no guarantee of gaining admission.

Still, to be waitlisted at this school is no minor feat.

Yes…the exact same thing happened to me…they seemed to be interested in me at the audition…taped me, gave me a card, recieved a phone call where they said the deans were very impressed with my audition…hmmm…I know I should not be disappointed, but I still feel very disheartened…I just wished they wouldn’t have made such a big deal…
