Any news yet web site states by March 15th. Did rejections go out first as some CC posters have mentioned?

Still nothing on our front. From everything I have read from the past years, they call all acceptances the first of March but I haven’t read any acceptances on CC. Has anyone heard of someone or is someone who has been accepted into the BFA acting program? My D account on mypurchase has not changed it still states that they are in receipt of all her materials basically. Also, we emailed the conservatory about when and how applicants would be notified and were told “we are working on getting all decisions out shortly.” I’m guessing that she hasn’t received a call yet so the decision coming shortly is probably not good news. :-(

My D hasn’t heard anything either. She was filmed during her audition in LA, so we are hopeful. I don’t know anything or heard anything about phone calls.

I know of 3 people at my son’s school who were accepted, found out yesterday or the day before.

We’re they called or mailed their acceptance?

I’m pretty sure my son said they got letters but I’ll check on that.

oh my goodness… this is killing me seeing her and all of you waiting and hoping! Please let us know if it was by letter or phone call and thank you for the information you shared. Good Luck Typecast and niksmom and all the others out there!

Sorry, I was wrong, my son said they were notified via email. We know 2 boys and 1 girl who have been notified that they were accepted and 1 girl who hasn’t heard anything yet. All at the same school. Good luck to everyone who is waiting, we’re waiting too, just not for Purchase. It is very stressful

Since they were notified of their acceptances via email (and not snail mail), it doesn’t look great for those of still waiting to hear . . . crossing fingers for a place high up on the waitlist.

Not necessarily, if they notify in waves like many other schools do. I don’t
understand why they do this but they send out acceptances and rejections in groups over a couple of weeks. So if you didn’t hear in the past couple of days you could be in the next “wave” and it can be either an acceptance or a rejection.

My friend heard from them about two days ago. She is accepted.

I wonder if anyone from the west coast has received an acceptance yet. Just wondering since my D has not received an email re acceptance, but just received an email from financial aid asking for additional documents and looking forward to seeing her next semester. I called admissions and was told to check her MyPurchase account early next week. Just to add more confusion . . . Thinking of all you kids and parents still playing the waiting game. :-)

Lots of confusion, and in my opinion more so at some of the public Us. My D applied to a SUNY last year (not Purchase) and we found their academic, financial aid and arts departments all very disconnected. Even the Performing Arts and Theatre administrators didn’t communicate. We got confusing and misleading letters, up to the very end. I’d recommend just trying not to think about it until you get a letter that says the exact thing you are looking for.

From previous years, I recall that the process at Purchase has been very long and drawn-out, as they offered spaces to their favorite X number of students, and then went one-by-one down the waitlist as the spots were turned down. So really, just be prepared for anything and keep an open mind. My sympathies!

Thank you, EmmyBet. I appreciate your kind words.

Is anyone else placed on the waitlist for the Fall 2012 BFA Acting program at SUNY Purchase? Anyone know how many they usually accept from the waitlist?

I don’t know how many they accept but we were told at the audition that they ALWAYS end up going to the waitlist. Caveat: they have boxes for waitlist I and waitlist II on the evaluation form the auditors use.

My D was rejected. She knows one girl who was accepted and a VERY talented boy who was rejected. Being waitlisted is good. Best of luck to you.

Any waitlist is a huge accomplishment! Congratulations to anyone who gets on one. Sometimes it feels like cold comfort, especially if you don’t have a solid acceptance in hand. But really it means that they absolutely would be happy to have you at their school. That is immensely important.

Look back on previous years - kids on this thread have consistently gotten into Purchase from the waitlist. The impression I have is that they fully accept only the number they ultimately want (20, or whatever), and as kids turn the spots down, they call up their waitlist.

I also know that waiting for what might happen with a waitlist can also be very stressful. My D had a waitlist from one of her preferred BAs last year, and did ultimately get in. This stretched out our decision period for several extra weeks. She decided against that school in the end, but I think knowing she had that offer will always be a high point in her self-esteem.

For people who have heard something, were you emailed, called or did you get a letter? I still haven’t heard, I’m on the west coast though so if it’s by snail mail that could be why.

We got a snail mail letter within two weeks of audition. (rejected)

My D received a letter early this week - waitlisted.
