Hi!

thanks,
My son got on his admit letter but that was four years ago. OOS merit is the exception, not the rule at Purdue. His was 10k. But while he knew many who got in, he was the only with merit.
I had found a financial cost to attend statement in our Purdue portal (not sure if there was an email on it), but no aid for us shown either OOS, so I assumed that it was out as part of admission or shortly thereafter.
Very unlikely unless you qualify for need based aid.
Thanks…
Yes- don’t count on any money for OOS students.
I have 2 at Purdue from OOS and it’s the best money investment I could have made for them.
Incredible education and resources for a fair price.
Thanks everyone! at some point I guess I need to narrow down my choices ( at least had in state admitted and one reciprocity tuition) and one final college decision for tomorrow ( last one), unfortunately one of causes ( big one) is $$… still 47K is a lot of money for me as undergrad. I applied there because a counselor said to me they give merit money OOS… but I’m guessing is rare…
Good luck everyone!
Purdue was the ONLY public school that did not offer my OOS child merit (most offered their largest OOS merit awards) but after netting merit, Purdue was still the second cheapest of all his options because their tuition is lower than most others.
Purdue is also probably the only public school that has frozen tuition for the past 12 years… does anyone know of other schools who have done this?
Choose the school you can afford and don’t look back. It’s about you, not the school.
Good luck.
I think the frozen tuition is the difference. High performing students may not get as much aid from Purdue – but all students get the benefit of a lower tuition rate. Even within Indiana – IU OOS is about $15,000 higher than Purdue.
When kids are doing a coop for a semester in engineering, does that affect their continuity of enrollment.
Asking because continuous enrollment is one requirement for maintaining a need based scholarship
Thank you
Nope. Co op students are still considered full time students when they are away on rotation. It’s a seamless transition coming and going in terms of dorms too.
Great
Thank you
Hi! My D was accepted to the Vet Nurse program at Purdue. It seems like a very small program, so I have not heard a lot about it outside of the Purdue portal. She is required to request admission to the clinical program after her first year. Do you know of any students already in the program? Can anyone provide feedback? Any insights?
My D’s current roommate is a vet nursing major and has been very happy in the program. I will send you a PM.
Hi, My DD was accepted to Biomedical Health Sciences with Honors with intend to pursue Premed path as OOS. Can I get some guidance on this program at Purdue ? or any admitted students on this track to connect
TIA
My son got accepted for CS today. He was deffered earlier in EA as an International applicant.
What is better CS@Purdue OR CS@GTech ??
Which can you afford?
Is there a weather preference - Ga Tech will be warmer?
Ga Tech is in the city. Purdue is in a small city but is an hour from an airport, etc. So Ga Tech is much more urban - do you prefer that or a smaller city?
Ga Tech is from the Atlanta airport, a major international airport but you can take a train. Purdue is an hour from Indy and 2.5 hours from O’Hare in Chicago.
Better is dependent on what’s the better environment for your son because you can go to perceived better and struggle if the environment is wrong. If you go by rank, etc. Ga Tech would be considered superior but I don’t think in this case it matters that much.
Choose the right one for your son I’d say - he’ll be fine either way. Both are highly thought of.
Congrats to him - both fantastic.
The cost is pretty much a wash. Purdue might be a bit cheaper by about 4k or so if thats important to you. Otherwise, both quality programs. GA Tech has the edge with rankings but Purdue is a great school. Frankly you wont go wrong with either. Much depends on whether you want a college town experience or a big city experiece.
