I got accepted into both Purdue and UIUC for industrial engineering, and I am having a difficult time choosing between the two. I fully understand that UIUC is a top five party school, but I’m not sure how much that matters due to the heavy work load I’ll have in the engineering program. However, I am also worried Purdue might be too boring in its social life and party life. Both schools are ranked high and around the same in their industrial engineering major.
Reasons to go to Purdue: Close homie goes there, brother goes there, not too distracting so I can focus on work.
Reasons not to go to Purdue: Boring as in engineer, social life and party life is dull (from what I’ve heard), engineer classmates are snobby? (also from what I have heard)
Reasons to go to UIUC: Top-five party school, lots of fun, more social environment, classmates are more helpful and fun?
Reasons not to go to UIUC: $5000 more expensive per year (tuition), distracting
Can someone help clarify Purdue’s social life and party atmosphere? And would an engineer major still be able to party without being in a frat and maintain good grades at the same time?
Which college should I attend?
