Purdue Spring 2009 Transfer

Hey I am currently a freshman at Winona State University in MN. I came here because a friend of mine had this "great idea" that wed go to college together. Oops. Biggest mistake ever. I feel like i could have done so much better than this, and I feel that my (relatively decent) 25 ACT score is going to waste here(I think the middle 50 is 17-20 or something like that).

I am looking to transfer as a freshman for Spring 2009. I applied and got into North Dakota State University for their Mech Engineering program, which is one of the best for under $15,000/year in my area. I also decided to go for a school that is a little more out of reach, since when I applied as a freshman, I really only went for schools I knew I could get into. So I applied to Purdue University. They have a great Aero/Astro Engineering program! Also, They are more unknown outside the midwest, so i thought that could help.

Stats:
HS GPA Low! 2.9, but a 3.5 and 3.6 as a senior, so that might help?
ACT: 25
SAT: 1700
Decent EC in high school. Lots of Volunteering work.
Going to have very good grades at WSU - classes seem to be way to easy for me. I'd put it above a 3.5 at the very least

I have a few questions.
1) Is it that hard to get accepted? I looked at Princeton Review and noticed that the stats are very VERY similar to NDSU. Purdues HS GPA average is 3.5, NDSU's is 3.4. ACTs are also unbelievably similar, and NDSU doesn't really do SAT. Is it not impossible to get in considering I have been accepted to NDSU already? Oh, and if you neglect to include a high school GPA, I am very close to being eligible for their Trustee's Scolarship. (27 ACT, 1850 SAT) This has been going through my head since I applied (Early Sept. Like maybe first week if I remember correctly.

2) If I applied 3-4 weeks ago, when will the decision be made? Like I said, it has kind of been driving me nuts now that it looks as if I could actually do this.

Someone please let me know! If you need any more info, let me know!

Transferring to purdue isn’t hard, dunno the exact number but I think it should be similar to NDSU

Would you think, that with my stats, there would be a chance?

of course.. a 3.5 college GPA will be a safety for you

What exactly do you mean by a 3.5 GPA would be a safety for me?

Just make sure you do well in your first or two semesters in college. I dunno the exact GPA range but I think 3.0-3.5 GPA from college would secure a position in Purdue. One of my friends was accepted last year by purdue and Umich and was rejected by UIUC. I think his college GPA was like 3.6 or 3.7.
Bottomline: just apply, Purdue is relatively easy to get into

Yeah I applied in late August. I applied for Spring 09. I figured might as well try to get in. Any ideas of when I might hear back from them? They said “As late as mid-October”, so it’s kind of up in the air.

I really hope I get in! NDSU is good, but Purdue has such a nice Aero program. And WSU just feels like community college to me.

Anyone else have any input? What do you think my chances are?

bump bump! Can anyone else tell me what they think? I’m sort of obsessing about it right now!

dude im in the same boat as you, kinda. i mean im trying to transfer into purdue for spring 2009 but the problem with me is i had one really bad semester in college but overall im a 3.1 gpa kid. and ive been told by many people i have a good shot. so good luck to you and if i get in ill let ya know.

Well, I got in “pending final transcripts” from my college. I am quite surprised actually.

Although, unless i find $100,000 sometime in the next 2 months, Purdue is out of the question! hahaha NDSU here i come

congrats on getting in to Purdue manunited (too bad CR left)
I was wondering what you think of my chances of admission, because I am trying for Spring 2010 transfer. I am in my first semester out of high school and I’m applying to the Aero engineering program, so I am essentially trying to accomplish what you have last year.

My stats:
HS GPA: 3.0
SAT: 2120 (Perfect Math)
ACT: 31 (35 in Math)
SAT II: 800 Math, 720 Chem
EC’s are nothing spectacular.

I’m really worried and if anyone could chance me for Spring Transfer, that would be wonderful. Thank You!!
