What is the purdue veterinary scholars application like? Do you need to write a personal statement? Is it just like applying to vet school?
The information you are seeking is on: vet.purdue.edu/dvm/faqs.php have you done any research into the program?
I appreciate the link, but that is for the regular DVM. Veterinary scholars is the accelerated program where high schoolers apply to be admitted into the veterinary school early. I couldn’t find much information on the application process when I was researching and was wondering if you have to do a personal statement so I could get a head start
The information is all on their website except exactly what is on the application. That won’t open until Sept. I would suggest that you call them and ask. My son is in a different early admissions program and they did not mind him calling and asking questions several months before he applied. Just start by calling the College of Veterinary science admissions office and ask who to talk to about the Purdue scholars program. They will tell you.
Okay! Thank you very much for the advice! I can ask when I call, but does anyone know if you must accept your admissions to Purdue before applying?
Before you call, look at the link that I provided. It is specifically geared to the program that you are asking about. It lists very detailed information about your questions:
Submit your undergraduate application to Purdue University- West Lafayette campus. Offers of admission to the Veterinary Scholars Program will be extended only to those applicants who have been accepted to Purdue University- West Lafayette campus.
Complete and submit the Veterinary Scholars application and all supporting materials by the application deadline of February 1st.
Participate in a personal web-based interview, if invited.
The Admissions Committee will review your academic record as well as your extracurricular activities, including animal and veterinary experiences, work experiences, awards and evidence of leadership. A holistic review process is used to select applicants.
Okay! Thank you for your help! I found it a little confusing when the veterinary scholars was listed under the general DVM page on their website, but it is much more clear now. Thank you very much for pointing that information out!
Best of luck! If you want info on other combined programs, perhaps @momocarly will be able to help with info regarding the program that her son is enrolled in. My daughter did the BS first, followed by vet school.
I am new to this forum. I was accepted to Purdue and completed my vet scholars application and submitted by Feb 1st. Hoping to get an interview invite. Does anyone know when we get notification? How many candidates do they interview and are there several dates to choose from? Thanks and good luck to those applying!
Congrats @vet2026 If no one answers here, perhaps try to post under the Purdue forum. From the website, it looks like you will be notified by mid March for an interview. I can’t answer any of your other questions. I did note that under the regular Purdue vet school admissions tab that there was a specific notice about wearing “Formal business attire” for an interview. I don’t know if that is the same for the Scholars program, but it wouldn’t hurt to follow that advice. Best of luck to you.
