I am trying to decide what college is the best for me and I keep finding very biased opinions on both sides and I am tired of changing my mind so often.
I am looking for a school that will give me a good education (this is a given).
I am interested in public health and have been accepted to the school of public health for both Purdue and IU.
I am looking to pursue a career as a physical therapist or a physicians assistant.
I prefer if the college I attend would have a good business school as it is also something I am interested in.
I would prefer a college that has good professors and smaller class sizes.
Both are good schools and neither would be better than the other for your chosen interest. It would come down to how you feel about the campus of each school. Bloomington is considered by many to be the better college town. Purdue is much more STEM focused and it is noticeable. M/F ratio at Purdue is much more skewed towards the men. While Kelley is usually considered the better business school, Krannert is not bad at all. You are not going to get small class sizes at either in your prerequisite courses for the health fields. At Purdue you’ll be competing with many of the engineering students in Chemistry (general chemistry is the same for all). That shouldn’t be a deciding factor but they will tend to be students with higher stats and more math and science backround. My youngest D who wants to be a physical therapist visited both and preferred Purdue (she ended up at a different school). I can’t speak to PA programs but the public school in Indiana that has a DPT program is IUPUI. University of Evansville has a 6/7 year direct admit program available. They will likely have smaller classes than the BIG 10 schools.
