Purdue vs Minnesota-Twin Cities ChemE

Hello,

I am currently a sophomore chemistry major looking to switch to chemical engineering at a school that doesn't have an engineering program. I am looking to transfer to one of these schools in the fall as I have been accepted to both. I was wondering if you thought either of these schools is significantly better for a student looking to get a job in industry after graduation as a ChemE. Also, I assume that both of these schools are good enough that the quality of education received at either is good.

Thanks

Minnesota has been a top 5 - top 10 ChE school for decades upon decades…

the tradition is there…the reputation is there…

yea, top 5 is pretty exceptional, though if your in-state at Purdue I don’t see why you’d go somewhere else (and vice-versa).

Your assumption that both schools are good enough that the quality is on the same level is correct.

Both are outstanding.

on the one hand you have Purdue, a top overall Engineering school, but not as good in ChE. as Minnesota

on the other hand you have Minnesota, not as good overall in Engineering but top 5 in ChE.

madison both

Yeah, I am having a hard time deciding what is more important, a better overall engineering school with pretty good chemical engineering or a pretty good overall engineering program with one of the top ChemE programs.

ChemE is a very special program. Definitely recommend Twin Cities.
Purdue Engineering may be ranked higher, then again
Purdue and TC as a school ranking goes, they are about the same or maybe TC is slightly better.
Like I said, maybe you did not apply for Madision. That is a better overall choice than these two IMO for ChemE, lol.
