<p>My son had a slighty higher average (UW) and lower SATs (1290/1860). He did show an upward trend in his grades (which schools like to see). He goes to a very competetive and highly ranked public high school in NYC (which I think some colleges do factor in, but definitely not all). </p>
<p>He applied to some of the same schools you’re talking about, for the school of arts & sciences. If you apply for business it could be tougher. His results were:
UConn - accepted
UDel - accepted (they actually ask on the application to explain any grade < B on your transcript)
Syracuse - accepted (he had interviewed. the rep told him he was borderline, but because he had showed steady improvement and had a tough senior schedule he still had a shot).
Penn State UP - denied (this hurt)</p>
<p>You might want to consider adding UMass to your list.</p>
