Putting "I was fired" on the application

I had a job for my sophomore year and the first half of my junior year, but I did something ridiculously stupid and got myself fired.
On the applications, when it asks about work experience, would it be better so say that I had a job and got fired, or to just say that I never had a job at all?

I don't think it would be intellectually dishonest to list the job as something you did from sophomore to junior year and just not mention the circumstances surrounding how you left. I can guarantee you that no college or university is going to call your former employer and its not like you would be lying on the app either.

Why don't you report that you had a job for one year during your sophomore year? Don't mention anything about the fact that you worked there for 1/2 of your junior year and got fired.

just put how long you worked for and thats it. You are not lying.

I don't recall having to put any information about why I left a job on my applications. It asked for start date, end date, hours/week, and some asked for a supervisor's name. If that is all that is asked for, you don't need to go into details. If there is a space where you have to elaborate, a brief account focusing on what you learned from the experience with a quick mention of being fired would be the way to go.

say you had the job for 1.5 years, just don't say you were fired. if they don't ask, don't tell them
