Qestion about SAT writing score policy in Vassar

I got CR710 MA780 WR610
I almost spent all my time on CR, but I didn't expect it can be so low like this. I wonder does vassar put a heavy weight on wr score? Does that mean that I will be danger on the list?
I'm extremely worry about this....
Thank you very much for any replying!

kaboobb - Vassar certainly looks at the overall score, but they do mention just the CR and Math on their website as an example of what they look for. Here’s what it says - “The middle 50% of last year’s admitted class scored between 1360-1490 on the SAT critical reading and math sections (2050-2240 overall)”. When looking at just the CR and Math, you are at the top end of that. When looking at your score as a whole, you are somewhere in the middle. So, with the SAT scores you seem to be in an ok range. If you have been taking AP classes or the equivalent and you have a GPA that puts you in the top 10% or so in your class, then you have a good shot. If you have good ECs, good recommendations and a stellar couple of essays, I say you are a strong candidate.

Thank you very much!
Your reply really help me a lot!

You know, as an international student, improving CR score can be the toughest among the three. So I almost spend all my time on math&CR… I didn’t expected that my writing score can be so low like this though. Looking through the detail score report, I found that I got 1 wrong in improving paragraph, 1 wrong in improving sentence and 8 WRONG in identifying sentence error! I’m wondering whether should I apply for the “multiple-choice hand score verification”, but it is said that it need another 5 months at most to take it. So… T T

It’s really a release for me since I’m among the top 10% or even higher in the class. And I did take the AP literature class(though didn’t take the test).

I love vassar and I believe that my EC, recommendation letter and essays all speak for themselves.
