Quality of High School

Hello,

My high school is ranked 4th in my country, according to a newsmagazine similar to usnews. Should I put this into my application and where should I do this??

Don't put it on your application. Your GC will do it for you, and the colleges probably know how good your HS is anyway.

In which part should my counselor put it???

IF your school is as high quality as you believe it to be.......I am sure the college counseling department is of high quality & experience too. Many kids from your school must have applied & been accepted to highly selective colleges. Why would you not trust your counselor to appropriately fill out that portion of the application? Have you met with your counselor? Is the counselor new?

I am an international... In my country there aren't selective procedure to universities. Only if you want to study medicine, there is draw, which means it is entirely based on luck to get, although if you got higher grades, your odds will be better.
So where has my counselor have to write it down??

he really knows nothing about US admission procedure and is not familiar with the common application, so I have to tell him what to write in each section...

Interesting... What country?

the GC submits the school's profile as a supplement to the school report if i'm right...

include the rankin stuff in teh school's profile

btw, i find it hard to believe any college from whichever country would use the 'draw' system to select applicants...

The school should submit a school profile with your transcripts.

Netherlands, It's really crazy... because those left politicians always want equal chances and that's why universities are not allowed to have selective procedures...

I will ask for my school transcript next week... How does it work if I apply for a lot of schools, will copies of the school transcript suffice, or do I need a signature and stamp of school?

You need official transripts for every college you appley to.

What is exactly "official" transcripts??

Is it printed by your school and with a stamp on it???

yes! with a signature from your principal or whoever is in charge.

Ohw... I dont think we have such things...
Is it good if I made the transcripts with previous reports... and let the headmaster signed it??

A transcript refers to a copy of a student's permanent academic record which usually means all classes taken, all grades received, all honors received and degrees conferred to a student. An official transcript is prepared and sent by the issuing school (usually by a Office of the Registrar or an equivalent) with an original signature of a school official.

if u can put together all tht constitute a transcript and get an official signature, it will do.

thanks you all for the feedback.. I will get my transcript done by tonight and will get it the GC monday

Is it possible to copy the official transcript a few times and send it to the colleges?

please help answer the question above

i believe if the signature is copied it is ok, not sure, my GC did all this stuff.

Deference, I believe that a transcript needs to be sent directly from your hs. It should not be copied by you and then sent on. Unfortunately, the universities would like them from your hs bcs from time to time students may try to tamper with their grades.

Sorry, I just realized that you are an international student, so I would ask your headmaster. However, the transcript is nothing that you would make. It is a record of all of the courses, credits, and your grades and is put together by your hs in America. The correct procedure is the way I stated above for American students.
