Just fulfill IGETC and you don't have to worry about each campus' own GE reqs.

So for example, under UCB's GE requirements, it says you need to take three years of foreign language in high school to complete the foreign language requirement but the IGETC says you only need two years so if I just finish two years is that fine?

Note for transfer students: These requirements may be met by Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or UC Reciprocity.

I'm not exactly sure that the foreign language requirements in high school are the same as they from a community college. A semester of college Spanish 1 can be seen as more than one year in high school Spanish 1; thus taking 3 years of high school Spanish may be the equivalent of 2 semesters at a CCC.

I would ask a high school counselor or call Berkeley about it.

Hm, well the IGETC form on my local CCC says that taking just two full years of a foreign language in high school will fulfill the requirement which would be Spanish 1A (one semester) and 1B and Spanish 2A and 2B.

There are three main issues when completing courses, perhaps more. I hope this will clarify the issues being discussed here as well help you decide who to contact for answers..

Does the course complete:
* IGETC certification requirements - Check the assist.org site by selecting your California Community college then select "IGETC for UC and CSU" and select the IGETC area to check the courses that will satisfy the area. You can also work with your Community College counselors.

Admissions Requirements - Check the assist.org site by selecting your California Community College then choose "UC Transfer Admission Eligibility Courses" and check the area of interest.

Graduation Requirements - I always recommend contacting the college academic advisers since they are the ones that know their graduation requirements the best.

Since it seems that the OP is discussing a graduation (aka: GE or Breadth) requirement I'd contact the College of Letters and Science at UCB to receive the best advise.
