Does Bowdoin request/require quarter one grades if you are applying early?

My S applied ED two years ago, and it was requested he send in first quarter grades. Not sure if they require it for all applicants, though.

Hi!
I am applying ED Bowdoin and I still haven’t decided whether I’m sending in my Q1 Grades.
My term ends after the Bowdoin ED deadline so it would be pretty difficult to send it in anyways…
My guidance counselor told me that they can hold back senior grades and if the colleges want it then they will contact the guidance counselor and request the grades.
Good luck!

Hey:) Applied ED and sent in Quarter Grades today! The Admissions Rep said sending them in is to your advantage! So send away! Hopefully I will get to meet you all in August Good luck!

@mdw1519 what do you mean it’s to our advantage?

Your most up to date grades shows the admissions committee your most recent academic performance. So, if you have continued to receive great grades or your grades have improved, sending them in can only help you!

unless you bombed first quarter, then i’d wait

@mdw1519, what do you mean it is to our advantage?

They absolutely do require them. You have to have some evidence of your 12th grade performance if applying Early. (source: email from dean of admissions last month)

I submitted my Q1 grades, and CommonApp shows that they’ve been submitted. However, on the polaris website, it doesn’t look like they’ve been received. Do they include them with the secondary transcript maybe?

Mine were submitted and aren’t updated on polaris either!
Not sure if they updated it

I’m getting the same picture. I’m guessing it’s either not updated or that those Q1 grades are included with the secondary transcript.

My quarter 1 grades still aren’t there!
Anyone else?

@bananacream mine arent either

My Quarter 1 grades are showing - you guys should check with your guidance counselors

I emailed mine this morning and he claims they were sent the friday before the thanksgiving week…
weird

My school’s on a semester system and my grades don’t come out until Jan, what should I do?

My term 1 grades finally showed up!

^call admissions and ask? My best guess!

So I go to a massive public high school that is quite overcrowded, so the counselors only send 1st quarter grades if the school specifically asks for them. Since on Polaris Bowdoin says that Q1 grades are optional, my school won’t send them. Is there any way I can do it myself?

@rosearia I have the exact same problem! I email an admissions officer at Bowdoin on Friday about this, so hopefully I’ll get a response on Monday. I’ll keep you posted. Good luck!
