Hello all!

I have a quick question regarding the early decision plan.

It says that I will need to report my quarter 1 grades; however, my counselor told me that the common application does not require it. She said she didn't find a space to fill it out. As a result, she will only use my junior grades. Also, my school does not release it after the early admissions deadline.

Is it okay with only my junior-year grades?

Thanks!

I forgot to include that my school doesn’t include my quarter 1 grades in my official transcript. So, my counselor said she will only be sending my semester grades. Is this even possible?

My S applied ED to a different school (obviously) two years ago, and it was requested his 1st quarter grades be sent in. Like your school, only semester grades appear on the transcript, but the school does issue “progress reports” to the students showing how the student is doing at first quarter. In my S’s case, he had one grade first semester his junior year that was low, although he turned it around the second semester. I think they wanted to make sure he was still doing well his senior year. Fortunately he was and he was accepted ED.

If your transcript has already been sent, your progress through your junior year would already be documented. Because of the timing of ED, they have to make a decision before the fall senior semester grades are sent in. They want to make sure you are not suffering from senioritis and are still doing well in your high school course work.

Perhaps you or your counselor should speak with Wellesley’s admissions office. I would be concerned if your school doesn’t provide some sort of report of your senior year academic work so far, Wellesley could defer a decision on your ED application.
