Quartile rankings and other questions

My son goes to a very small school. I believe he’s 10 or 12/49. If a few of the strugglers in his school drop out this year and he stays where he is at, he will be in the second quarter. I have seen where if a student has a relatively high SAT score, they are sometimes assigned first quartile by admissions. Is there a certain criteria for this or does he just have to hope no one drops out from his class?

He will be applying next August, so I know I’m getting ahead of myself here. But, does he need to have his transcripts sent as soon as grades are posted this summer so he isn’t waiting on anything come August 1?

1450 or higher will give him a decent shot. It’s so hard with a small school to be ranked.

Great job getting ahead of the game. As for sending transcript… they don’t have to be in on the 1st of aug. Breathe a bit on that.

Best of luck.

Curious. What major?

Business, which is why I’m concerned.

Goes without saying but I’ll say it… highest score is needed to have a chance at Mays unless there are other things that set the student apart. There are always outliers that stump us.
