Questbridge 2012

The telementors are Amherst students. How does QB train them?

Im guessing everyone is nervous and thinking that they wont get anything. Just to note that mostly everyone is thinking the same thing. Dont bring your hopes down but be confident. Im trying to think positive and not negative. So what if we dont get it? We all tried and theres always next year. Good luck to all!!

Yea, good luck to all, we all already worked hard to submit all the stuff regardless if its crap or good stuff, be proud! At the very least, we finished a college essay lol. Hope we all get in and maybe meet some of you guys in the conference and be friends? :D

submitted. now the waiting begins…does anyone know when we hear back from them?

^ Email said around late April, anyone know of an exact date?

Eh, even if I don’t get in, I’m still proud of myself for taking time to fill out the application during my busy junior year lol (:

was there a section asking if you wanted to apply to get a telementor? Or are you entered automatically?? I didn’t see anything in the application about it

It was a separate question with a 300 word limit essay explaining why you want to have a mentor. I believe only 45 are accepted for this mentoring program so my son decided to leave it for other students who really need it, i.e., they have very little support in their college application process.

This is kind of off-topic, but are there any other scholarships similar to this one that you guys have applied for?
I’m kind of lost when it comes to the whole scholarship thing and my counselors are total doorknobs.

I am applying for the Posse program but i think thats for new yorkers im not sure…

This is my first post on College Confidential. I have been following the Questbridge threads since September.
My daughter is a Questbridge finalist. She was not matched to any of the four schools she listed. The truly puzzling thing is that she was NOT accepted to any of the Questbridge schools, including the four she added after the match announcements. She was wait-listed at one of those schools. She was accepted at three non-Questbridge schools, none of which were among her top choices. Two made excellent offers of academic scholarships without even considering the FAFSA yet.
Her stats are good, not fantastic, but pretty good. She is a US citizen yet has an interesting address that you might guess by my screen name. I am Monday night quarterbacking the entire application process to come up with some explanation for her many rejections, including one from a Big 10 school for which her stats are near the top of their middle 50% and from which her grandmother graduated! One of the most logical explanations is that her obvious financial needs shut her out of some of these schools. I suspect that the Questbridge finalist status backfired for her. I would love any feed back. Glad to say that she is pretty much OK. We are just puzzled. Any comments?

Does anyone know if they will send out the email to all applicants on the same day? or is it rolling admission?
And also for Quest for Excellence, does any of you know how many students are selected for each award?

I heard that it was 1 award per topic for the Q of E essays, but I’m not completely sure if that’s true.

Thanks, but I hope they do give out more than one for each.
Do you guys happen to know if we will all receive notification on the same day?

Decisions are emailed out by Apr 20. It says so on the landing page of the web application.

I’m so anxious to know already! Well, at least we only have about 10 days to go. :)

i really hope i get selected to go to emory…i kind of put all my eggs in one basket so if i’m not selected i don’t have anything set up for summer :/

Did you guys hear that they got about 5,300 applicants this year? This is going to be extremely competitive…

wow. Also, I was looking though one of their brochures that they mailed to me, and it stated that they nominate 25 students for the summer college prep programs out of all the applicants. So… I obviously have no chance. Especially when 5300 people applied this year. :(

What? 5300? Wow. Just wow. They apparently did their marketing too well. Where did you get that information, though? Thanks :D

It’s on the QB Facebook page.
