I’m definitely applying for the College Prep Scholars Program through Questbridge, due March 23. The acceptance rate is around 30%, so I feel like it’s possible that I could get in. From several practice tests, I’ve gotten an average of 32 on the ACT. I’m Hispanic, and my family makes well below the average income for accepted students. My essay is pretty solid, and my GPA is above average for Questbridge. My one issue is that both my parents graduated from college and have a master’s degree. I know that most Questbridge College Prep Scholars are first-generation, but how much of a chance do I have, keeping in mind my other traits?
If you are deemed to be qualified, I doubt that your parents’ education will be held against you. The primary determining factor will be your family’s total income. Good luck…
Does anyone know when do the results come out?
@LeTri78 Questbridge said late April
good luck to everyone who applied!!
Good luck everyone I also applied and can’t wait to hear back from them!
Will we still get a notice even if we didn’t get accepted? And does a rejection from the college prep program guarantee rejection from the national college match?
- Hopefully.
- Doubt it. Though getting accepted automatically gets you connected to the National College Match for the first time ever in Questbridge's history, that would be a little much to not let us apply for it in the fall.
How many drafts did you guys end up writing for the bio essay?
@donisgoodboy about four. I ran it through two english teachers.
@intheairtonight ah, I wrote a bio 3 times, scrapping the first two. then I had 2 more drafts for the 3rd one and ran it by one english teacher. writing is my greatest weakness, but I hope that the effort I put into this pays off
@donisgoodboy I’m sure if you put that much effort into it, it’ll pay off. did you have a special stylistic flair that’ll catch their attention? did you really let your personality shine through, or was it just a list of your hardships in life? that was what I struggled with initially; I was too scared to let my love for writing show, but I’m satisfied with the final draft. if anything, I had a fun time writing and revising, and I learned that you shouldn’t wait until a couple days before an essay is due :))
@intheairtonight I think I have a distinct voice in my writing; my english teacher told me that I sound like both a 12-year-old and an 80-year-old in my writing lol. hopefully a few sittings with her cleaned that mess up. I only discussed one event. I only really got to work on the bio 10 days before the app was due, which is something I regret ); but I feel like my essay turned out pretty decent
@donisgoodboy that’s good! now I’m just counting down the days until we find out…
@donisgoodboy I typed up one draft and went to my school’s writing center and constantly revised it with my consultant’s advising.
@donisgoodboy I actually started writing in less than a week before the application was due, haha. It was kind of hectic for me, but I made it!
Ah, I’m really nervous for the results, guys. There’s a 32% chance of being accepted but I’m still so antsy!
Good luck everyone! Do you guys know if acceptance is based more on academics or if they like you?
I think academics play a huge part of it, and your essays and the personality you voice seals the deal. Good luck.
I wrote my essay the night before haha, hopefully it all works out
WHEN ARE DECISIONS COMING OUT. I check my email every day, like, is it late april yet? lol
