I have the same problem.
I finished AP Calc BC and AP Chem in 10th grade.
My teacher from AP Physics was first year teaching last year, and she doesn’t have any experience to write recomendation.
I decided to ask my math teacher from 10th grade and AP USH from 11th grade.

Hey guys! I have a quick question about what happens if you don’t get matched.

My main concern with College Match is the early deadline. I know that if you don’t get matched you have the opportunity to forward your application to schools for regular decision. However, you cannot edit your application in between right? If that’s the case, it’s just like shaving off three months of essay editing.

If you don’t feel that your QB application is strong, do you think it’s a better idea to retract your QB application and apply through the Common App? Would you still be eligible to do this to the schools you ranked for College Match, even if you were not matched with any?

Thanks for any/all help!

Hi p0larbear!

I do think it’d be a good idea to apply through Common App with edited essays. You can just put “Questbridge College Match Applicant” or “QB…Finalist” on the awards/miscellaneous boxes of the Common App.

While I was waiting for the Match decision, I finished all my other applications through Common App to QB and non-QB schools. I recycled my QB essays, but I edited them 3x before I was happy, and had my English teacher & counselor read them. The final drafts were much, much better than their original versions on my QB app. Well, the originals were a product of procrastination and sheer desperation, so they couldn’t get worse (:

But that was me. It’s up to you–I’m sure you’ll be fine either way. Good luck to everyone!!

@ Arydesia

Thanks so much for your input! Since reading the application process on the “My Locker” page I’m a lot more clear about what I should/want to do. I don’t know why they don’t put that on the main page… it cleared a lot of things up!

Anyway, if I get to be a finalist and then I end up not being matched I think I’ll take the same route you did. I think the benefits of 3 months worth of editing on your essays outweighs the extra information that the QB application offers.

Thanks again!

I made an account and everything, but my June ACT score is way too low for most of the school (20). I’m definitely retaking it in September and October, but the scores won’t Ve back in time.

@MindOnMars12: I am also taking my ACT in September. I emailed the QuestBridge team and they said that they will take test scores of tests that I take before the OCTOBER deadline if I plan to do College Match. If you plan to apply to Regular Decision, the deadline is later.

@MindOnMars12: Also, it takes about 2-3 weeks for an ACT score to be posted online.

Some of the QB partner schools I’ll be ranking would like one recommendation from a STEM teacher and another from a humanities instructor.
My question is:

Is my Business teacher and advisor considered a humanities teacher? I could get a stellar recommendation from this teacher as opposed to my simple English teacher.

For those of you who went to the conferences, do you remember the latest test date for SAT / ACT we can send to the school for it to used in the College Match decision process? I want to say one was in November, but I’m not sure

And for those who do not know this, if you take a test and the scores are not going to be available until after Sept. 30, then you may just send the score directly to the colleges you are applying to and they will consider them in the application process.

Apparently you do not need to send OFFICIAL reports until the Finalist/Nonfinalist selection. But even then, the latest test date is October.

Q: I wont have my standardized test scores before the College Match deadline. Can I still apply?

A: QuestBridge will accept any test scores that you receive prior to the National College Match application deadline of September 30. If you do not have any test scores available for the September 30 deadline (i.e. you are taking the SAT/ACT for the first time in senior year), you can still apply to QuestBridge and it is still possible to be selected as a finalist if the rest of your application is very strong.

If you expect to receive scores after September 30, please list your testing date(s) on the Testing Information page in the application, leaving the score fields blank. In order for your test scores to be considered by QuestBridge colleges for the College Match, you must take any required test(s) no later than October. Any testing done after October will be considered only in the Regular Decision process.

If you are selected as a finalist and you have new test scores you received after September 30, you should send those test scores to your ranked colleges directly from the College Board or ACT. Refer to the National College Match Requirements for Finalists page for instructions regarding submission of test scores to colleges.

Please visit the standardized testing page for more information.

Is anybody else having difficulties with the site?
I login to My Locker but it gives me DataObjectError.
This has been happening since yesterday and it’s really worrying me because I was planning to ask my teachers for letters of recommendations in the next two days…

I have ran into that error in the evenings. It is usually back up the next day.

Does anyone have any statistics on the % of Questbridge Applicants who become finalists?

@MrData. QuestBridge does: [Acceptance Rates](QuestBridge)

Hi so you know theres this part in the academics section, it says to list up to 6 academic honors. Well, what exactly are academic honors? Could those be awards given like at the end of the school year? Oh and could language diplomas be a part of this?

Have any of you guys looked at the teacher recommendation form yet? Is it long? What type of information does it ask? I want to know what type of information to give my teacher

the site is showing an error message for me!!! has anyone been able to log on for the past few hours. I have tried 4 different computers and it says that there is an error with my server.

I have a question. I don’t understand what official SAT scores were supposed to fax. Do we just print out our online and very unofficial score report(?) that has all our scores and fax it to questbridge? I’m so confused.

@asinine16 QB only requires that you have your guidance counselor fax your school report from College Board to them.

From FAQ

To submit your scores to QuestBridge, you should ask your high school counseling office to fax your score reports using the ‘Transcript & Test Scores’ fax cover sheet available on your ‘My Locker’ page. If you are selected as a finalist, in most cases you will also need to send official score reports directly from the College Board or ACT to the colleges that you ranked.

The problem is that our school does not receive any type of score report/ Instead, we receive small stickers from collegeboard that have a score on it. I think I’ll print out a sheet from collegeboard with all my scores and give it to my counselor to fax.

Regarding the common app, do we use the same recommendation letters as we did for QB? My QB recommenders are truly the best and I don’t want to change them. What about the personal statement? Is it okay if it’s the same o____o?
