at least i wish columbia allow ED after QB match…

You still have RD… But I feel ya, RD notification dates seems so far from now

so if you did not get an email from the college, it means you were not a good candidate?

2 for Scripps

@coco101 no idea, honestly

And ugh, RD does seem so freaking far away. It’s horrible :-(

Does anyone know how QBers Stanford, Princeton, Penn, Dartmouth, and Columbia accept RD?

I don’t really understand your question all too well, but if you mean application wise. I believe they don’t read the QB app, and they want the Common App. QB finalists aren’t treated any differently than any other RD applicant, if that’s what you’re asking about. Of course, there’s the fact that those schools are uber selective :(

Woops!!! Meant how MANY QBers Columbia, Stanford, Penn, and Dartmouth accept. Lawlz

Did anyone else get the email from Rice encouraging you to apply?

yep got an email from rice

oh no! i just got an email from columbia saying that they wont look over questbridge app
D:
now i don’t get to explain my situation at all… what should i do D:

does anyone know how many QB finalists each school takes RD

Either incorporate it into your common app essay or trust that QB finalist will be telling enough of your situation. On a positive note, at least we got that Columbia email we were all hoping for ;)

I don’t think we can see how many QB applicants were admitted. Though that would be cool. I’m fed up with statistics though, tbh.

Holy crap this email is blowing my mind!!! Does this mean I am guaranteed acceptance??!! Please help me understand this! Just received this email from Northwestern a few minutes ago. This email was entitled “Your admission to Northwestern!”

Your QuestBridge application, academic credentials and letters of recommendation demonstrate your potential to make an impact at Northwestern University. We have no doubt you will thrive in our classrooms and within our student organizations. While we were not able to admit you through the QuestBridge match program, I am writing today to offer you admission to Northwestern University through either our Early Decision or Regular Decision program. Our offer assumes you will maintain your current academic success for the remainder of your senior year.

If you would like to receive your official letter of acceptance at the end of March, 2013, through Regular Decision, there is nothing you need to do. However, if you have decided that Northwestern University is where you would like to be next year, I am offering you the chance to be considered an Early Decision candidate and receive your official acceptance to Northwestern by next week. Keep in mind, Early Decision at Northwestern is a binding program and you must withdraw all other university applications and initiate no new applications once admitted.

Like all students who apply to Northwestern, part of your decision where to attend college is financial. We have a generous financial aid program for lower and middle income students. Regardless of whether you choose to commit to Northwestern in Early Decision or consider us later in Regular Decision, we will award you a need-based financial aid package (a combination of scholarship, grant, loan, and part-time work) that covers 100% of your demonstrated family need. One-third of the students in the Class of 2016 at Northwestern are from families who earn $60,000 or less.

To switch your application to Early Decision, please complete the following steps by Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

Early Decision Agreement Form: you, a parent or guardian, and your high school counselor will need to sign and return the form to the Office of Undergraduate Admission by fax at 847/467-2331.

E-mail or call Antonia Garcia and let her know that you will be applying Early Decision ( antonia-garcia@northwestern.edu or 847/467-1942). You may request your financial aid award at this time to help with your decision.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like to discuss your options.

Congratulations on all of your outstanding achievements in high school. I hope that you will accept my offer of admission to Northwestern University and join our diverse and close-knit community.

Sounds to me like it is yours for the taking. Congrats!!!

After reading it 1000 times I think so too! Omg the relief! Been depressed all weekend about not getting matched and now this! No one lose hope yet! :)

I got a email too… But it said. so does that mean that if i didn’t get a acceptance letter…im basically denied??

Dear
Northwestern allows QuestBridge students to apply early decision if you do not match with one of the partner schools.

While we have a limited number of match spots available, we admitted over forty QuestBridge students through early decision last year. Keep in mind, Northwestern has a generous financial aid program. We award need-based financial aid packages that cover 100% of demonstrated family need. Last year we awarded $110 million in financial aid to students. We enroll more QuestBridge students than any other partner school and have one of the largest Quest Scholar chapters in the country.

To switch your application to Early Decision, please contact me by Monday, December 3, 2012 at: antonia-garcia@northwestern.edu

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss your options.

Sincerely,

Antonia Garcia

Sounds like it’s yours, ocarina! Especially contrasted with dannymanny’s email, which also sounds promising but not the same slam dunk.

Did you guys all rank Northwestern??

And @whiteout13 I’d like to know too. :/

btw, got the generic Rice email too.
