Hi i am not quite finished my application for swarthmore, however my schools counseling office wanted at least 3 weeks for them to complete the guidance packet so i gave them the packet before i submitted my app. THey already sent it in. Is it a problem if they get my guidance rec and transcript and those things before they get my application?

You should submit part 1 of the application with the application fee as soon as possible (The "why Swarthmore?" essay can be submitted later with the rest of your application and essays). That way you will have a file opened for you, and stuff will be less likely to get lost.

Andrassy:

No, with any luck that should not be a problem. My daughter sent a number of guidance packets to colleges that she didn't even apply to (after she was accepted ED to Swarthmore). She got letters much later from each of these schools asking if she would like to complete her applications.

I recommend a one page (tops) cover letter with each part of the application you send. In this cover letter should be:

a) the list of items in the envelop you are mailing

b) the list of items being sent from other places (i.e. the recommendations

c) the list of items to follow

I agree with nngmm that sending part 1 of the app soon is a good idea. It's just the informational part (name, address, SS#) that allows them to properly file your stuff as it comes in.

by part 1 do you mean the entire common app otehr than the supplement? I would do that but im not done my commonapp essay yet. can you jsut send part in?

No, what you need to submit, if I remember correctly, is Swarthmore supplement with your payment (minus "Why Swat" essay if you prefer to send it later.)

well i emailed them to be safe, so if anyone else is wondering, they will just make a file and put your app in when it comes

I sent my application in last night...is there any way to track it to make sure they got everything?

I think Swarthmore has gone to a computerized tracking system and that you will eventually get an e-mail with instructions to login and check that they have everything. Maybe some of last year's applicants know. They didn't have that system when my daughter applied.

Good luck. It's a nervous time waiting, huh?

sure is! i got my sats scores back and i improved 120 points though, from 1420/2110 to 1490/2230...that really got me excited. i reaallyyy hope i get in but im prepared not to. the wait is tough though haha
