Alright, so i have a question about Berkeley's Art requirements.

I know that it's mandatory to have 1 year of art....unfortunatly, i don't know if i'll be able to fit art into my schedule. it's pretty much been planned.

Is there any way i could bypass this requirement? I'm extremely good at art history; in fact, i am our quizbowl team's "art guy"....would self-studying for the AP Test be an acceptable substitute?

F) Visual and performing arts
UC-approved high school coursesOne yearlong course of visual and performing arts chosen from the following: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art

AP or IB ExaminationScore of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP History of Art, Studio Art or Music Theory Exam;
score of 5, 6 or 7 on any one IB HL exam in Dance, Film, Music, Theatre Arts or Visual Arts

College courses
Grade of C or better in any transferable course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units that clearly falls within one of four visual/performing arts disciplines: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art

those are the options to fulfill the req. kinda sucks cause i just found out and now im gonna have to remove berkeley from my list b/c i’m not self-studying for no reason other than one college

Were you in band or choir or anything? I think those count. Also I know quite a few people who were accepted regardless of their art requirement. Although they were also ivy league qualified.
