on the website it says this on their table for ap policy:

English AP 5 / LR or WR SAT II 800 1 no equivalent course not applicable English 200, 201, 202, 203, 205

i understand that this gives no credit, but does help in placement. however, i was confused about what the "LR" means because there are two ap english exams...the language one and the literature one. anyone know which one they are referring to?

So I don't understand, if you dont have an 800 or 5, you have to take a 100 level English? What kind of course would that be...probably not the greatest. I'll go check.

Um, I believe that LR, like WR, means the SAT2 Literature test, not AP Literature. Though if that's the case it means they don't give placement based on the AP Lit exam, which is nonsensical - unless when they mean 'English' they mean both AP exams, but again, that makes no sense.

Yea the LR and WR are referring to SAT2 tests, not the APs.
So I probably shouldn't take AP Eng if it's the equivalent of 800 writing anyway?
But don't you want to do freshmen seminars?

Alita, yes that is what I got. However, what is the point in doing any of this at all? It places you into 200 level courses but there is no such thing as a 100 level course.

I was considering taking it but I'd have to self study and I'm already taking a bunch others so I decided against it. My friend who took it said it wasn't hard.

If you're not sure which school you're going to yet it might help you. She's skipping freshman year english at Penn.

At princeton there aren't 100 level courses but freshmen seminars which are really worth taking.
