Are these awarded for AP tests taken in one year or all through out one's High school career? For example, if someone took 3 AP exams but not all in the same year, would they get the Scholar Award?

According to what I read on CollegeBoard’s website, the awards are given based on all AP exams taken.

As you said, if someone took 3 AP exams in different years and got 3 and above for all of them, then the person would get a AP Scholar award.

Yes, they are for all AP tests ever taken.

I’ll be taking most of my APs in senior year. College Apps go by Jan of senior year and exams are not given until May…how does that work? Are senior year APs counted toward AP scholar award and do these have any value if taken after colleges have sent acceptances?

Senior year APs are counted toward AP scholar awards, and most AP state scholars get the award their senior year. But yes, you won’t get your scores back until the summer, so you will definitely not be able to put them on your application.

Unfortunately, they will have no affect on your admission, other than the fact that you’re taking the AP class (unless you are self studying).

On the bright side, I do believe that you will still get the college credit for exams taken senior year. I have a friend who skipped his entire freshman year of college mostly from APs taken his senior year of high school.
