Does your score on an AP test reflect the grade you get for college credit? For example, if I took the AP test for chemistry and got a 4, would I get a different grade in Chem 1A if I got a 5?

I don't think you get a grade for a class exempted from AP credit, but you can satisfy a requirement/move onto a higher level class. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You're correct, prometheus. AP scores can fulfill requirements, but they do not factor into the GPA. Imagine what an unfair GPA booster than would be!

Thanks for the info. And yeah calstudent86, I thought it would be a pretty unfair GPA booster also. However, now I don't see why people want to get 5's on AP tests if they could get lower and still get exempt from the course.

Well when people take the AP test, they probably don't know which college they are going to. Different colleges have different AP policies, so while a 4 or a 5 might work for say College A, perhaps only a 5 would give credit at College B. To make sure, people will want to get the highest score possible.

Besides, 5 looks better, and might give you pointless awards. :D

if you dont take the ap tests you had stated you would take on your app, do you have to notify them? or can you just not send in the scores?
