Question about applying early and financial aid

Hi, I’m a junior this year, and getting a head start on looking at schools. Brown’s my top choice, and the ONLY reason I wouldn’t apply early is because of financial aid. We’re in the situation that we don’t really qualify for a lot, but there’s absolutely no way we can cover tuition and fees. If I got in early, but wasn’t awarded enough financial aid, it wouldn’t be a good situation… Anways, I was talking to a friend’s mom who graduated from brown, and she was saying that you can still apply early and if the financial aid award isn’t enough, you can turn down the admission offer. So my question is, is this true? or is early admissions binding in all ways? Thank you!

it's true. it's possible to get out of it for financial reasons.

Damn I wish I would have known that for this year's app process :(

i would look into it a little more, its a blury/fuzzy concept

OP, There's a lot of different opinions on this. I suggest you start with this thread, and do a search of similar discussions. Best of luck.

Yeah, it is really blurry. I have a feeling that it's POSSIBLE to back out under certain circumstances, but that it's in the very fine print on the last page of a document hidden in the bowels of the Brown website. And if I get in by all means I'll do everything I can to go.
