Wow, flatxca, I'm surprised too. My s hasn't heard anything yet, but after reading your posts, I'm guessing a no. He was 1 out of 467, but only 30 ACT. He does have alot of leadership though, and really good EC's. Maybe that will help. When did your son have his interview? Did he recieve a deferral letter first?

He had an interview in late Nov early Dec. No defferal letter. This was the only other contact from the program after the interview. He thought the interview went well. They talked a lot about golf and internships.

My s got a deferral letter last month. It had the typical verbiage of "so many qualified people applied, want to take another look at your application after the regular decision deadline, etc."

He still has hope, but after seeing your son's rejection, I think his chances are slim to none. He thougth his interview went really well too. I think they spoke for a really long time, I was at work, so have no clue what all they spoke about. I wonder how much of each criteria goes into the decision? Are test scores the most important? ECs? Leadership?

Oh well, it's hard to know what goes on behind those admission doors! But, I wish I could take a peak ;)

So, what does your son want to do now? Mine is going to UT regardless of the BHP decision, it was the only school he applied to, and we are already paid up!

The letter sounded as if leadership was the deal make or breaker. So many have the stats. Don't give up hope though. You can never really tell. Maybe something sparked their interest with your son.

My son is very angry and dissapointed. Maybe after a little time he will consider it again. Those AP's will help him more at UT than any other school he is applying to and he could start law school early with a little money left from undergrad funds. Right now though North Carolina and Tulane are at the top of his list.

UT is a really good school, just rather large.

flatxca-- UNC is also at the very top of my list. Haven't heard from USC yet but received a Presidential/Trustee rejection letter today.

i was also rejected today

top 1.2%
1490 SAT
shift leader at my job
pretty average ECs
mid-high school move

wow haha congrats to everyone who made it

So sorry adam. Fantastic record. What will you do now?

So sorry to annn also about USC. My son hasn't heard anything at all from them, so I don't even know if he will get in. Are you in BHP at UT? Pretty good bargain.

I have a very good friend in Raleigh and her son is at UNC. He loves it and feels very good about the program.

I was just accepted to USC and BHP, but I havent heard anything about the schloarships at USC. When do we find out about schloarships at USC?

Someone I knew who applied to USC and got in last year found out about her scholarship near the end of March.

Faithful -- as to USC scholarships -- my son heard last week that he's been invited to interview for the Presidential scholarship (1/2 tuition). I understand all the letters went out to Trustee/Presidential scholarship candidates already, althougth there are some others that don't require interviews that won't go out until acceptances are sent by April 1.

flatxca

i guess im just going to stay at regular mccombs and see if i can transfer into BHP next year, my only other option is miamo ohio(business honors), i didn't apply anywhere else --I had a pretty stressful first semester

i guess everything happens for a reason

congrats faithful

Good attitude adam. Everything does happen for a reason. We never thought our oldest would end up where he did. It was his 5th choice. He has been very happy and has met a very lovely woman. We could not be happier for him. It will all work out.

Well, no news yet! I rushed home from work expecting to find the NO letter, and nothing, only bills! Maybe it will be today ;)

flatxca, I understand about your son's anger and frustration. Two years ago, my oldest went through the same thing. He was one of those non-top 10%ers with ridiculous test scores (NMF and over 1500), he kept waiting and waiting to hear from UT. In the meantime, he was accepted at Tulane with big scholarship and at UF honors with full ride. After visiting UF, where they put out the red carpet, he basically said, "Later, UT." When he got the acceptance, he threw it in the trash. He is now an ecstatically happy sophomore at UF and knows that he made the right decision. I truly think a higher power had a hand in the mix!

Adam, you are so right that everything happens for a reason! Just being in the business program at UT is an absolute HONOR! And, you will be surrounded by some great, like minded, kids! I know my s will be happy at UT, bhp or not!!

do u have to be admitted to UT to get an interview for BHP cuz i just got admitted 2 days ago. how long after u send ur app for BHP do u get an interview? a friend of min just got hers and she had finished her app only about a week or 2 ago.

ag54....Go Gators! That is where I went! (a long time ago!)
Boy, it really makes a difference how you are treated. Tulane has been so nice. It wasn't much of a consideration in the beginning, but s is much more serious now.

As far as BHP, it will vary as far as when or if you get an interview. No set schedule.

flatxca, It sure has been fun for my s to be a Florida Gator this year! Winning the NCAA basketball champs last spring, then the Football National Champs this fall was pretty exciting. Next year, my husband and I will have to split allegiences between UF and UT.

I'm sure your s would be happy at Tulane, my older s has many friends there and they have enjoyed it (since they got back after Katrina). I think I read in an earlier post that your s is also looking at USC. That would be a great school to be at - good weather, good sports, and a great business school to boot!! Good luck to him!

Mailman's come and gone, nothing from UT. My s's deferred app must be in a pile somewhere ;)

Not to mention gymnastics is no.1 AND football recruiting for next year. It's great to be a Florida Gator!

S has heard nothing from USC yet, nothing good, nothing bad, just a request for more info. Oldest s is graduating from USC this year. He has had a great time and they have treated him well. He had 4 major job offers.

Hopefully, your s will hear from UT soon. We are to the point that we are grateful there is no mail. Then at least you have no bad news!

At least the request for more information means that they are considering him! Hopefully, the updated info will tip the scales in his favor!

It is such a stressful time for so many right now. I'm ready to quit thinking about it - of course, I will be going through it one more time with my 3rd!

Congrats on your oldest s's great job offers. That is ultimately what we are hoping for, for all of our kiddos :)

Nice to have them graduate and (hopefully) become FINANCIALLY independent!

This is my third senior in hs. I have one more after that. UGH!

i realize it depends if i do and when i do get an interview, but i just want to know when others got their interview? was it after you got accepted to UT or before? how long after?
