Question about CAP

Hi,
Is there any guaranteed way I can be accepted in the CAP program?

If you have the time, can you please chance me? <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/992184-another-one-applying-ut-austin.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/992184-another-one-applying-ut-austin.html</a></p>

My understanding is that just about everyone is offered CAP. if you are in the top half of your class, I don’t see how you won’t get the offer.

As long as you are a Texas resident, almost everyone gets offered the CAP route. If you are offered it and you plan on doing something in Liberal Arts or Nat’l Sciences do it, otherwise don’t waste your time.

Why should one not consider the CAP program as they attempt to gain an Petroleum Engineering degree for the Cockrell School of Engineering?

Aali is a bit jaded, but it is generally not a great idea to do CAP if you want to do business or engineering as you are not guaranteed admission into either of those colleges. You do automatically get into COLA and CONS.

ahh! That makes sense. Thanks

Well, it’s good thing I’m majoring in Biology.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that you shouldn’t do it, but definitely weigh all your options wisely if you’re interested in those majors.

I’ll definitely do it, but I definitely would want to get into Austin on the first try.
