Question about Carroll school of Management

I have been accepted BC’s college of Arts and Sciences.

I have changed my mind now and want to atten their Carroll School of Management.

What do I need (such as first year grades etc) in order to transfer to Carroll as I enter my

Sophomore year?

Do they look at my senior year of high school transcript and SATs?

Thanks

It is very difficult to transfer into CSOM from one of BC’s other schools. Do a search in this forum for many previous discussions on this.

you basically need a 4.0 to transfer in

minimum of 3.5, suggested 3.7+

i’m not completely sure how you would go about transferring into CSOM after freshman year, perhaps scott can shed some light

Dear orangelemonlime : Without having seen your profile and application, please remember that our comments that follow are generalizations and not about you specifically. The chances of your acceptance being transferred from CAS to CSOM before you set foot on campus as a freshman is virtually nil for several reasons.

First, this is exactly how applicants try to “game” the system by applying to one school perceived to be “softer” and then attempting to transfer.

Second, if your passions have indeed changed, our suggestion would be to get this discussion moving at your orientation or sooner if possible.

Third, when choosing freshman year courses, do so with a focus on proving your interest in CSOM. Be sure to have economics coverage from CAS and see if your can actually take one course in the Carroll School along with your freshman course load.

Fourth, you might want to think about a well constructed e-mail/essay that concisely expresses why your change of heart in terms of target school at Boston College. You are going to have to have a very convincing argument other than “my interests changed”.

Fifth, throughout freshman year, you are going to want to become familiar with some staff in CSOM who, provided your grades are exceptionally strong, can help “sponsor” you for admission across into another school on the campus.

In closing, you are the paying customer at Boston College, but that goes so far - hence, be sure that your arguments are well constructed and factually based in order to support your transfer request. A well constructed request will be respected; a request that comes across as “I would like to try it” will read poorly and be rejected. Good luck.
