question about cornell school of hotel

Hi I had a question about applying for cornell hotel. Does it matter what kind of hotel you work at for work experience? Do they prefer a high class hotel? Or is best western okay?

No, as long as it is in the hospitality industry - restaurant, catering, country club, hotel.

Most hotels i’ve been to do not offer internships, how do you guys get them?

You could be a waiter, busboy, housekeeper, lifeguard, anything. One of my kid’s friends was flipping burgers one summer.

I always ask if there are any unpaid internships available for hs students, is that the wrong question to ask? Should i just go in and ask if i could work there for no pay? I usually just speak to the receptionist, should i ask for the manager instead?

A thousand years ago my bf worked as a bellman before heading to the hotel admin school there.

Still unsuccessful

does working at a restaurant count? like even if you are just a waiter?

Yes, it does.

I just want to be super sure, you don’t have to actually work with management at a hotel or anything right? you can do something as simple as waiter or cashier?
