Hello, I am currently an 11th grade student, and I am curious as to how Cornell Admissions prioritizes information. For instance, do they look at 50 % SATS 50 % Extracurriculars and so forth? Thank you.

Yours very truly,

It is not quite that simple but experience tells me something like 50 % standardized tests(SAT/SATII/ACT), 40% transcript particularly difficulty of program, and 10% other stuff. No more than 10%.

Yes, thank you. I’m wondering this because all of these different websites have different averages for SAT scores - if your score is below that average, is it possible to still get into that school?

You have to be careful how you look at the stats. Go on the Cornell website and search out “common data set”. That will give you the stats that Cornell reports to US News, etc. Look at the 25%-75% range of scores on the 3 sections of the SAT, noting that the CR and M are considered more important than the W.

No problem. Send a PM if you want to get some more insight on your specific stats etc.

Cornell also wants you to show how much you love Cornell in your essays, which probably isn’t a problem for someone who really loves Cornell.
