How is the housing system in BU? I’ve heard of some of the larger dorms but are there any dorms that are more personal? Furthermore are of BU’s dorms mixed male female or are there all male all female dorms as well? Can an incoming student with a scholarship awarded by BU choose to stay at home and if so can will said student lose this scholarship?

Thanks

I think the policy is that Freshmen are required to room at BU but that is a question that I would ask Financial Aid. Freshmen usually live in the larger dorms (Warren and West Campus)- the positive being that since you are all freshmen, everyone is usually eager to meet others. However, there are other dorms that are smaller and there are also specialty houses and floors which make the experience even more personal. Most dorms are mixed where there are guys on one side of the floor and girls on the other. There is a greater percentage of girls than guys so I was told during orientation there are dorms where there are floors which house just girls but I don’t think there is dorms with just females or just guys. Are you worried about the party/noise level of dorms? Then you should check with the housing office to see what the availability is for substance free housing and or quiet floors.

I think if you live near campus you can live at home. It is all on the BU website. They are really friendly in the housing office and FB page. You can ask them directly! My kid lives on West and it is great! You will have fun living there!! ENJOY
