Question about ECs

Okay. My ECs are definitely the weakest part of my app. The only things of importance are beta club president, nhs vp, and eic of the school newspaper. i've done about 200 hours of tutoring/volunteering at the library and battered women's shelter but i feel so inferior when i read different posts on this site. i know my list is kind of sad, and it worries me to no end that i'm a rising senior and can't do anything about it now.

i know you don't know the rest of my stats, but will something like this really hurt my chances?

those sound like really great ECs, UNC isn't looking for a long list of clubs and things you did. Its one thing to be a member of a club and its something very different to be an officer of a club. Whats important is to show that you weren't just a member of that club, you also were active and have things to show for it.

For example, the large majority of people who apply to UNC were members of NHS. So if you want to stand out on your application then become an officer, something you already did and looks a heck of a lot better on an application than just saying you were a member. Volunteer work is also important.

Its quality not quantity and I think you have a nice list of ECs, also I don't see how its too late to add to that list. Good luck

you're insane, those ECs are amazing

yeah man, those EC's are more than enough, even if you are OOS.
